Guest ben9785 Posted May 13, 2012 Share Posted May 13, 2012 Angeles thanks for posting the videos.It's first show of the tour so based on past experiences his voice will get more into it as it progresses.I never got into the 'mickey mouse' vocal debates but yes some of the songs have the 2002 vocal sound. But again he's just getting into the tour and obviously, unfortunately, he's not getting any younger. One or two years might not 'seem' like a long time but sadly sometimes it is just a short span of months that people's bodies change.Just one more thing, and I admit I always took note of this for the wrong reason, but does it seem like Ashba has toned down the onstage mannerisms/gestures? Beginning of WTTJ I only saw him leaning forward towards the crowd, and after the "This I Love" solo he just patted his heart and then backed away? I'd personally like more rasp but he sounds FRESH and doesn't have that horrible frog in throat sound he had times when he tried to push his voice, which was REALLY noticeable in some of the early 2011 gigs (especially Rock in Rio.)I think his vocals will shape up nicely in this tour, I think we'll probably end up with a mixture of 2011, 2006-07 and 2010 vocals by the end. Really amusing.Anyways, the fact that those two shows didnt have anything new or even Civil War doesnt mean a thing. The band always starts slow and then gear up some interesting stuff throughout the tour. Not saying they will bust out a new song without a doubt, but I hardly see the begining of the tour as any indication of the setlist.
