Young_Gun
I do, on the title track. Some grunge influences there. The whole album is so diverse you can find traits from most mainstream music genres.

Freddie Mercury's Ghost
Axl deliberately wanted the drums on the title track to sound like the drums on "Smells Like Teen Spirit"

MarlaHooch
Axl deliberately wanted the drums on the title track to sound like the drums on "Smells Like Teen Spirit"I've read that too.I'd say that song - the main riff and the main beat - much more closely resembles "Drain You". Same rhythm and feel but different progression. Edited June 24, 2012 by MarlaHooch
dalsh327
Dave Grohl wasn't on ChiDem, and not much playing with words the way Kurt did. Nothing of the soft/loud/soft that represents a typical Nirvana song. More likely to find Billy Joel influences on it than Kurt.

volcano62
"The first task set to [Zutaut] by [Axl] was to help with the drum sound for the album's title track.Axl had told the studio guys that he wanted the same drum sound as Dave Grohl on Nirvana'sSmells Like Teen Spirit. The production crew would claim they had it, but Axl wouldn't besatisfied." (Classic Rock, 04/08)

WhazUp
I am curious as to what the title track sounded like with Freese on drums, he probably gave it a more "Grohl" sound purely based on the stuff I have heard him play on

HisRoyalSweetness
the riff for cd sounds like a pretty weak imitation of smells like teen spirit. crossed with rock you like a hurricane. i'll bet axl was pretty excited when the mank rage played him that riff. The RIO III version sounds like GNR covering Nirvana with a bit of NIN thrown in. It's most notable in the drumming and the guitar during the chorus.
