Kurt isn't anything but decomposing flesh in 2012. One might argue he was cooler in 1991-1994. But such a person would lack musical taste.

Kurt Cobain was, is and will always be cooler than Axl.

Being a drug addict is a disease, suicide I a symptom of disease.

Axl being a douchebag isn't a disease. That's just being a douchebag.

Miser we agree on a lot, nowadays but I fail to see how you think Axl was ever cooler than Kurt.

Unless you're just trolling Nate for lols.

I just think Axl was more cool, someone more easy to relate to, someone who made stuff that wasn't all angsty, depressed, teenage sort of "I hate myself and want to die", "I feel stupid and contagious", etc kind of material. His humor was too overtly/intentionally ironic, too cynical, too "I'm the voice of Gen X and I know it. I'm the cynical jaded voice of the Slacker 90s Generation" shit. It's sort of like a fake version of John Lennon or like a watered down postmodern John Lennon. There's no FUN to be had with Nirvana or Kurt Cobain. The shit is far too serious and dark. I only listen to Nirvana when I'm depressed.

Axl was more popular in terms of sales than Kurt. Talent is subjective. Kurt knew how to play guitar and sing. Axl knows how to play piano, guitar (only a little bit) and sing.

You hate Cobain because of what he did to Gn'R, and that was overtaking their place in pop culture.

I don't see what the problem is with just liking what you like and...i know it's discussion boards and stuff but honestly, it's embarassing, the way some of yous blindly stick up for your musical heroes like you're their hoes or something, they're just guys that sing and play instruments, you ain't a part of either of their gang or something, it don't give you an identity to hate one band and like some other band thats feuding with them, if you really dug music you'd be too into the shit you're into to give a fuck about this kinda stuff. I mean how you gonna win, hows this ever gonna be settled? It's more about the person having a pop at the person really, than anything the music has anything to do with, maybe you guys should have a fight or something :lol:

I don't think Kurt was ever cool. What's so cool about a depressive degenerate early 90's teen idol that happened to make a handful of good songs only to off himself in the most selfish way possible, leaving his family, friends and fans memories stained like that? Axl's no better than him either way but at least he had the inner strength to resist problems in his life instead of letting himself be taken over by them. As much as Axl has dissapointed millions of fans around the world, he didn't cause a tenth of the damage Kurt caused. Dude fucked up rock music.

Except that he didn't overtake their place in popular culture. They were pretty much rivals until Axl went into hiding and Kurt killed himself in the same year. You also have to remember that the 'Seattle movement" didn't include only Nirvana but tons of other, IMO more talented bands. What overtook GN'R was themselves and their implosion.

I've always been a fan of Nirvana but I've watched enough interviews with Kurt Cobain to know he isn't anybody to put up on a pedestal. he was just an arrogant prick with an overinflated sense of self importance, he thought he knew everything, he thought he was the embodiment of cool, then he realized he turned into everything he hated so he rested his chin on the barrel of a shotgun. yeah, really cool guy

Don't get why anybody sympathizes for people who kill themselves, especially somebody who was so privileged

I'm not claiming to be an expert on reading people or anything, just using my own personal judgement Kurt Cobain didn't strike me as a very down to earth person. His comments on GNR being racist and homophobic especially rubbed me the wrong way, his "us against them" mentality was very narrow minded and unreasonable. They were the biggest band in the world so he hated them and it was simple as that.

On the other hand you had Axl Rose who loved what Nirvana was doing and wanted to tour with them until Kurt slammed them on stage and in interviews, bot no Axl is the bad guy,
