The James Bond Thread: RIP Robbie Coltrane

Has anyone ever read the books? Thinking of starting them.

I've read Casino Royale, Live And Let Die, and Moonraker so far. Think I'm gonna start Diamonds Are Forever soon. They're easy reads, but also enjoyable. Casino Royale is my favorite so far.

I have read Casino Royale, Live and Let Die, Moonraker, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger and For Your Eyes only (a collection of short stories) I started Diamonds are Forever but didn't finish it.

Of those my favourite is probably Casino. Moonraker and From Russia with Love are also very good. From what I understand Fleming planned to kill Bond in From Russia with Love because the series had not really been very successful up until then, but then the novel proved to be a huge success so he brought him back

I plan to read them all, so even if DAF is dreadful, I'll finish it. Moonraker was very good, much better than the film.

Diamonds Are Forever is quite good; not one of the better ones but still good, and again, very unlike the film. The odd one out is The Spy Who Loved Me, a novel Fleming was so embarrassed by that he stopped it being published in paperback and withheld the copyright for the story, although obviously not the title, from Eon. It is not really a Bond story but is a first person narrative by a women.

Rihanna has been rumored before. Didn't Craig mention her once? He probably had jungle fever at the time.

Just noticed the poll, how the FUCK did Daniel Craig get 1,000 more votes than everybody else?

:drevil:

Wow, Daniel's really got a lot more votes since I last posted on the forum. ;)

I just noticed that Talisa Soto was 22 in Licence to Kill. Goddamn.

Emily Ratajkowski is only 23.

She's already got an acting career going, she's in the upcoming Gone Girl movie.

MAKE IT HAPPEN MGM!

Alas, having seen her performance in Gone Girl, I'm quite confident this acting thing ain't going far

Women don't need to act. They are natural liars.

Neither casting has been officially confirmed by EON yet but it's safe to say both are accurate. The news of both comes from some very reliable Bond sources. Since filming starts in December I expect the usual EON press conference sometime this month but as with Skyfall they'll probably keep as much on the down low as possible, but at least we'll get some more casting news.

I'm over the moon over Bautista's casting. Finally we'll get a believable henchman for Craig to square off against who's a believable match for him considering the guy is a giant. At best he'll be the new Oddjob type of classic henchman. At worst he'll still be better than Elvis. It's also worth mentioning that Hinx may very well be a code name on the casting sheet since the call sheet for Seydoux's character listed a certain "Miranda Frost" as the name, so it's likely that the real character names are hidden for now.

Apparently there's some Austrian shooting to be done, so we might very well get Craig in some OHMSS style action.

If they've got one, then quite possibly - they did with Skyfall (though the title had already leaked when someone discovered some web addresses registered to Sony with combinations of "007" and "Skyfall" and whatnot). Then again, Quantum's title didn't get finalized until late January/February of 2008.

I just read a story about Sean Connery being a bad ass. While filming this movie with actress Lana Turner, her boyfriend Johnny Stompanato who was the body guard to LA gangster Mickey Cohen stormed onto set, pointing his gun at Connery because he thought he was banging his girlfriend. Connery takes the gun from him and beats him and the guy flees from the set.

This was back in 1958, Johnny ended up being stabbed to death by Turner's teenage daughter while he was beating her mother. She got off on justifiable homicide. Hollywood was fucked up back in the day.

Strong rumours that Christoph Waltz is playing Blofeld.

I was thinking that myself just pure speculation - he could definitely give Donald Pleasance a run for his money as the best Blofeld.

On a sidenote I watched The Living Daylights again last night. Just an amazing Bond movie.
