I've heard some mixed things about Cherynobl Diaries...

I heard it was pretty terrible but liked the look of it personally.

Awful reviews haha - I thought it looked great, excellent premise, just poor execution in some parts. Worth a watch no doubt.

A bit like Apollo 18 I guess, decent sounding concept but terribly executed.

I was about to ask "Do you mean Apollo 13?" but then I looked it up and saw it was a totally different film... that saved me looking like an idiot!

The Shining is a masterpiece created by the one and only Stanley Kubrick. One of my favorite films.

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is very creepy. And there's surprisingly hardly any gore at all.

Cannibal Holocaust will leave you creeped out and confused. One of the most controversial films of all time.

I really need to see REC. I've only heard good things about it.

The Hitcher (1986 version) is a good one.

Zodiac. It isn't exactly a thriller, but it is about the Zodiac killer, and is probably my favorite movie of the 2000's.

Eden Lake

High Tension

No gore she said, so Randy recommends a film with some fairly meaty circular-saw-on-human action.

Maybe try some David Lynch stuff, I've heard Eraserhead and Blue Velvet and some of his others are very creepy, they're on my to-watch list.

The movie Freaks, I haven't seen that either but that could be a very unnerving one.

As far as stuff I have seen, American Psycho, Last House on the Left, and I Spit On Your Grave really gave me the "why the hell am I watching this" sort of bleak horror, although all three are very graphic. The original Halloween is a great horror movie, not very bloody at all, although it will seem somewhat tame if you've seen a lot of others.

Hellraiser is also pretty creepy and is pretty different as far as monster movies go. The Descent is a lot better than I thought it would be, it turns into a monster film halfway through but before that there's a lot of creepiness that just comes from the caves. 1408 is a good psychological horror one, pretty fitting of your description, about the haunted hotel room that will drive you to suicide.

Sleepaway Camp is the one "slasher" that really feels like it's at an actual summer camp, and the ending...you won't forget it. That's a hard one to find, though. Audition has a slow buildup but it leads to a pretty horrifying ending.

And for an interesting, creepy web series, look up Marble Hornets on YouTube.

And fuck Paranormal Activity, that series sucks. I went to see the sequel in theaters just to loudly make fun of it.

DON'T watch Cannibal Holocaust if you don't want to see animals being really killed for the sake of making a film.

As films date I don't know if you'll find these as creepy but here goes

Night Skies (2007)

The Strangers (2008)

Duel (1971)

Human Centipede

Wolf Creek

After.Life (Liam Neeson) - not gory, maybe not creepy but definitely leaves you wondering afterwards

Evil Things (2009)

Dead End

Trick r Treat

I know this might seem as though I'm ignoring the no gore rule but have you ever seen the original Saw? The rest were torture porn bollocks but the original is one of the best thrillers I'd seen in years. Really fucking creeped me out for days afterwards.

I have to agree about Saw. It didn't have me creeped out for days, but it was really fascinating with the well thought out evil deeds in it.

Sleepaway Camp is online if you want to watch it. Yes Audition draws you in thinking what a tame movie it is until the ending - even I had to look away when I first saw it. Much like a Masters Of Horror episode called Imprint.:scared:

Good call on that, first saw was so good and there is virtually no gore, shame they ruined it with the torture porn crap and stupid twists.

I've always thought this too, the idea of the movies was a great one but the gore spoilt it & made it too cheesy. It would have had more impact if they had to make the choice & you didn't see the consequences of that choice. After all Jigsaw is creepy enough.

Freaks is quite creepy, yet kind of heartwarming in a strange way. None of the characters were put through heavy make up to look how they do. That's how they really look. It may sound awful to say, but that in itself is pretty creepy.

American Psycho is a great film! Not really scary, definitely a comedy as somebody above me stated. But if you're a fan of Christian Bale then I highly recommend this. I think it really shows how great of an actor he is.

Minimal gore factor - The Shining, Psycho, Rosemary's Baby, Carrie, The Others, Pan's Labyrinth, Poltergiest, When a Stranger Calls (original 70s version), Mute Witness, The Vanishing (1988), The Hitcher (1986), The Sixth Sense, A Tale of Two Sisters, The Blair Witch Project.

Gilly you should watch "M". It's a German film about a child murderer with Peter Lorre and it's fucking great!

Also knowing you I think you might like the TV adaptations of Steven King's IT and Salem's Lot. Watch the version of Salem's Lot from the 70's with David Soul in though. There's scene in that that fucking terrified me as a little kid. :) Pet Cemetary was a good creeper too. :)
