The seeds of the rift between Axl and his then-bandmates starts there anyway, so why not look at this scenario as also the birth of the nu guns? sure he didn't have a master plan of everyone else being replaced, that just kind of ended up happening. But the musical reason for everyone leaving was axl's ideas of evolving the music, where slash and duff for example were already out of their element and alienated by material like estranged and november rain.edit: those are just the artistic reasons that have been stated. Personally I believe that slash and duff and the rest of them would have been fine, following Axl's dreams around, if the mood and mental environment had stayed positive and creative. the lawyers and axl just estranged and fucked everybody with their powerhungry contracts and fucked up the money part of everything... but that is a whole different story. just thought to mention it here at the end.
