Will the vegas shows be worth it if a live album/DVD comes out of it?

So how does playing gigs at The Joint make you a joke?

Following in Motley Crue's footsteps in 2012 is something I find very hard to take seriously.

Regardless of whether Motley Crue's footsteps make sense? What if Motley Crue releases a new album, should GN'R then shy away from that because it makes them a joke? You see, it if not enough to disregard an action because a band you dislike did it first, there must be something genuinely wrong with that action to begin with, because even uncool bands sometimes do sensible things. And playing at The Joint still is cool, regardless of who did it before them. It is not like that place is somehow tainted now.

But GN'R being active and playing shows all over the world in 2012...

Sure, they are ACTIVE, it's true.

People don't blame them for not being ACTIVE anymore but for not being CREATIVE, which is the absolute worst that can happen to an "artist"...

Yes, because waiting 4 years is just too long and this must mean the band is now not creative...

Yes, because the next album is totally around the corner and we totally aren't in for a couple of more years of waiting for music that was recorded six years ago ( being generous ) to be released...

The band is totally writing music around the clock as we speak...and they have been doing that for a while.

Give me a break, Bumblefoot has been in the band for the last six years and he has yet to write a single song with Axl. How creative is the band really ?

Oh, you are saying they are not productive, and we can all agree on that. But being angry about the band not being productive doesn't really fly in this context because there is a valid hypothesis that by coming together for a month in Las Vegas the band can actually work on the next record, so hence the whole residency in Vegas may facilitate productiveness. Hell, it might even be that they wanted to come together to work on a record and then later decided to throw in a few dates to get the gelling part in order and perhaps even try out a couple of new songs they are working on in front of a live audience.

But in general we all agree that the band is not productive enough, and I bet we can all agree that this problems lies with Axl. I hope no one here realized this first now.

What makes playing at the joint any cooler than being a lounge singer at any of the other 1,000 bars and casinos in Vegas, might I ask? Is there something special about this venue, or is it he same as going to see Wayne Newton two bars over?

Yes, if Motley Crue releases an album, then Guns releases that exact same album, I would find it pretty lame.
