A petition for all to see and sign

Subsy, HV and the Mods, I have a request of you, which I hope others will join me in asking of you, with all due respect:

I ask that over time a "Past Concerts" section in the "Old GN'R" section of the forum be added.

I think it's a little unfair that there is a special section to discuss only New GN'R's past concerts.

I am asking for a section which would specifically deal with Old GN'R's concerts in the way that the equivalent New GNR Past Concerts does. I feel the Old GNR concerts are just as important if not more so than the New GNR concerts, hold a lot more memories and nostalgia for the majority of the fans and members here, and should be given equal treatment and space on here, in the interest of promoting balance and that no special treatment be given toward either iteration of Guns N' Roses whether by intent or simple presentation.

It could be structured like:

"AFD ERA CONCERTS (1985-1990)", "UYI ERA (1991-1993)" or something, and under that have like "1985 tour dates", "1986 tour dates", "1987 tour dates", etc.

Basically the exact same set up as the New GNR Past Concerts section but simply for the old band and it's concerts. I am sure in terms of running and maintaining such a section, if that is an issue, you already have among your staff more than capable people or there are many here who would be both capable and well suited for the job. Perhaps someone like ClassicRawker, whose knowledge when it comes to Old GN'R is, IMO, unparalleled.

As a second part of this petition, I notice that in the Old GN'R section we have the following subsections specifically for old band members:

"Slash", "Duff", "Izzy", and "Steven".

I ask that Matt, Gilby and Dizzy get their own subsections there as well. They were part of the Golden Era or Classic Era of GN'R and two of them are Hall of Fame recognized and inducted members of GN'R.

Gilby played with the band as an official member for the majority of the Use Your Illusion tour, saved the tour from perhaps being cancelled or delayed, and played on the last "Old GN'R" album even if it was a cover album and filled in for Izzy at the Hall of Fame. Hell, Gilby is on the only officially released GN'R concert films, as well, and is in the majority of GN'R's music videos as a member. All of that should count for something. I say him and his solo stuff deserve a spot and that all I've listed are merits for being given his own section.

Matt was GN'R's drummer for all of the UYI tour as an official member, played on both UYI records, was inducted into and recognized by the Hall of Fame as a member of Guns N' Roses.

Dizzy was with GN'R from 1990 throughout the whole UYI tour as an official member, played on the UYI records and was inducted into and recognized by the Hall of Fame as a member of Guns N' Roses.

I think it is unfair to simply lump all three in in terms of the forum in the same boat with someone such as DJ Ashba who as yet has not played on any GN'R records, singles or been involved in any GN'R music videos. He is not on any officially released GN'R concert films or live albums whereas Gilby, Matt and Dizzy are. That is not an attack on Ashba, just a comparison of his contribution to GN'R as opposed to Matt, Gilby, and Dizzy's as an example of why I feel those three deserve their own subsection along with Slash, Izzy, Duff, and Matt.

If anyone else agrees with me on the creation of either or both of these sections please sign.

You guys are doing a great job with this place and I just think the addition of these little things would bring even more of a balance to the forum and wouldn't take away from the forum.

I don't want more sections. It's already annoying to scroll through 6 new GNR tour sections when I'm going between Attitude and Anything Goes. I suggest that all new GNR sections are merged to one section and that a new is created for the old band.

>Past Concerts

>>Old GNR Concerts

>>New GNR Concerts

Whilst at first it seems a silly idea (I assumed the past GNR concerts is more for people who have just attended a concert to discuss their recent memories and reviews) it could be quite cool as a lot of GNR concerts are in full on youtube now. So the first poster could create a thread for a concert with the link to the full show so everyone would be able to see it and discuss it. It could get a bit complicated though really and you can just start a thread for a specific show in the classic GNR section.

True but you could easily do the same for New GNR concerts, making a thread about a specific New GNR show in the main section, as there have been hundreds of New GN'R shows....But instead the New Band gets it's own section for it's past tours and concerts....

I just feel it would be equal treatment for the Old Band to get it's own concerts section given as it too performed hundreds of concerts, some of them which are really important in GN'R's history and for which many here hold nostalgia for. I'm sure there are many here who attended at least one GN'R concert between '85 and '93 and have their own memories they could share and could write their own fan reviews.

Just merge the concert section with the GNR section and don't have any such section at all. Nobody actually post in that section anyway.

You already can discuss old GN'R concerts in Past Concerts.

The post 2006 concerts have their own sections because of the way the forum's evolved. The main "Past Concerts" section is for all the other shows (Ritz 88, Paris 92, blah blah blah). We don't need a subsection for each year... the less sections to scroll through and click into, the better.

There's barely enough demand for the 5 original's to have their own section, much less Gilby, Matt and Dizzy - the threads for those members either go in THE BAND (for GN'R related stuff) or FORMER GUNNERS (for their solo projects). Let's not go fragmenting things any more than they need to be.

Also Miser, we appreciate suggestions, but they should go in this thread. They should also be as concise as possible.
