KBear
Yeah, I agree on Hot Rocks, or you could go with The Singles Collection. Just an awesome 3 CD set. Then dive into the albums. I usually want to hear complete albums rather than compilations, but the Stones have so much material that listening to compilations is a good start.Hot Rocks and The Singles Collection go to about '71 I think, so from there I'd dive into the highly regarded 70's material in chronological order. Then you might want to loop back to the '60s stuff if you really dig the Stones at that point. Edited August 23, 2012 by KBear
James Bond
I never got too much into the Stones, but I'd recommend both Sticky Fingers and Tattoo You. They also have a solid "best of" album called Jump Back which might be a good place to start.

Guest Satanisk_Slakt
I'd start with Sticky Fingers, move on to Beggar's Banquet and then Let it Bleed. After that I'd take Aftermath and then Exile On The Main St.
username
Just start with a compilation such as The Singles Collection or Forty Licks. If you want specific albums: - Of Our Heads- Aftermath- Beggers Banquet- Let It Bleed- Sticky Fingers- Exile On Main St.Exile is amazing, but not a good place to start imo. Between the ButtonsIt's Only Rock 'n RollDecent, but by far not their best. Their Satanic Majesties RequestGoats Head SoupMediocre at best. Thanks guys, I'll check those out Yeah, that's probably the best idea. As a beginner I'd even skip Banquet. If you don't like Some Girls, Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers you probably won't like the band.I would have started with 40 Licks. dalsh327
One album? Sticky Fingers. Want to know the Stones history? Go through these songs. GivenToFly
What the hell are you guys talking about? Steel Wheels and Voodoo Lounge are very good, Bridges to Babylon and A Bigger Bang are great! There are more noteworthy songs on either of them than on many of their older ones. What I can't get into by them is the first two albums (and Satanic Majesties, for obvious reasons, as in it's crap). There are a handful of songs on them that are good but for the most part they seem to lack any sort of identity. Out of Our Heads is when the party gets started.
