Looks tres alright :) There's been quite a few of them in recent years, The Future is Unwritten, Westway to the World, Viva Joe Strummer, all sorts, this one looks alright too though, looks like it has a lot more to say. Also, post the death of Joe 'God' Strummer, along with the obligatory deifying comes little nuggets of truth and discontent and perhaps a bit of criticism, deserved or otherwise, that would be a little harder to get in there had Joe been alive. The flipside of that is he ain't alive to defend himself so you kind of only get one perspective on the story although any new perspective is good.

I think Bernie Rhodes and Cosmo Vinyl should figure more in these documentarys though.

It's based around Vince White's book, so it's an insider story at a time the band was collapsing, and Joe prob. doesn't come off well in the documentary. This would be like Paul Tobias writing about GNR .

Shepherd and White got on alright with Strummer to the end though, didn't they? Far as i was aware, he was very complimentary of them both.

That was really interesting actually, i didn't know ge felt that strongly about some of that, even then none of what he said about Joe, what that his politics was slightly shaky, even good friends of his like Topper Headon and Don Letts have said similar things. Still, really interesting to make a docu from that point of view, i agree with his feelings about a lot of Clash fans.

John Lydon criticised him for doing that rock against the rich and jumping at every oppertunity for a photo op on a bus with a leather jacket on and went to his big comfy home in Holland Park when he was done.

I love Joe, public schoolboy or not. Joe was the proper article.
