Apollo Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I know, various forms of this have been answered in various toipcs.Just for discussion, what do you guys think?1. What songs will be on the next album (new, remix, CD leftovers)2. When will it be released3. Do you think all the unreleased music will ever be released - albums/box setSupposedly there are "big guns" still sitting in the vault. General, Soulmonster, Jackie, ThymeSupposedly there is a collection of remixes. Better Gone. And songs like Blood on the Water.DJ has said he has turned in 12 songs or something along those lines, but he says he writes all the time. I'm sure BBF and the other guys are also writing songs. Axl seems like he probably is always writing something. I would appear that Axl has a lot of music in his vault......do you think there is a masterplan to eventually release it all? Or just hoard it and release an album every 5-to-10 years?
bacardimayne Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 1. If there's a next album, it'll likely be mostly DJ written stuff with maybe some CD-leftovers completely reworked by DJ. I expect it to be extremely DJ heavy.2. Axl only knows.3. No, but I'd kill for a box set ala The Smile Sessions from the Beach Boys.

No, but I'd kill for a box set ala The Smile Sessions from the Beach Boys.Is Ashba that brilliant that Axl will rely on him?I wouldn't call him brilliant, but it's pretty obvious that if there's going to be a new album, he's the guy that's going to be the "mastermind" behind it. Axl seems to like the guy a lot more than his other bandmates as evidenced by hanging out with him a lot and wearing his fuckin' hat. Add that up with the likelihood of the record company wanting a more "traditional" rock album and it's pretty clear that DJ is going to be the guy who's behind most of the album.
estrangedtwat Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 There is no "next album."There will never be a "next album."There will never be any "boxed sets" of unreleased material for one very simple reason...THERE IS NO UNRELEASED MATERIAL.Axl only laid down vocals for 14 songs in 14 years and those songs were all released in 2008. You want to hear the last thing Axl Rose ever recorded? Go buy "Angel Down." Cause that was it.The man has the worst case of stage fright/writer's block that modern music has ever seen. There is no more Axl/GNR material, and there never will be. Accept that fact and go on with your lives.

estrangedtwat Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I'm not convinced "checkmate" isn't a rapidfire demo that never got released....

Thanks for the insight! I think he is extremely talented though, way better than Buckethead thats for sure. The man has the worst case of stage fright/writer's block that modern music has ever seen. Im not from US or any countries GNR went to, so wondering what you meant by that. Was he really afraid/conscious?
SoulMonster Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 1. What songs will be on the next album (new, remix, CD leftovers)2. When will it be released3. Do you think all the unreleased music will ever be released - albums/box set1. A mix of songs form the CD sessions and a few new songs.2. 2014.3. I believe all the finished unreleased music will at some stage, even posthumously, be released. But I think the majority of the unreleased music are just bits and pieces and instrumentals and will never see the light of day.
ColdHeartBreaker Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I'm not convinced "checkmate" isn't a rapidfire demo that never got released....Wow.. Here's what I struggle with; why bother with remixing the tracks from Chinese? It's not exactly going to set the world on fire, only the die-hards would be interested. Seems like Axl gets everyone writing, remixing, creating something and then it's anybodies guess what surfaces for public release.
liers Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Checkmate was confirmed to be jackie chan.Imagine it though, Axl must have this huge ware house, almost like a library inside, and on the selfs are cds of demos. Some guitar, some piano, some vocals, some drums, and some almost complete. But chances are we will never see any of them.
RocketQueenGNR Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) 1. What songs will be on the next album (new, remix, CD leftovers)IF they release new music, it'll be more than 1 album I guess. I think there will be leftovers and new material with DJ's influance.2. When will it be releasedReally don't know... It will happen when they (Axl) are ready for it. If it doesn't happen in a few years, it'll never happen.3. Do you think all the unreleased music will ever be released - albums/box setNo, I don't think all the unreleased music will be released. Edited August 31, 2012 by RocketQueenGNR
WhazUp Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 1. My guess is a mix of old songs recorded from the CD sessions with overdubs from current members mixed with some entirely newly written songs2. 2013 would be my ideal year, but realistically probably a few years3. No
axl8302 Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I'm not convinced "checkmate" isn't a rapidfire demo that never got released....Haha, you're fucking stupid!
Silent Jay Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 1. CD leftovers and 3 "ASHBA/Rose" songs( one SCOM style, one TIL style and one sixx am-crap style). I hope Bumble will have some credits.2. 20133. No.
estrangedtwat Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Checkmate was confirmed to be jackie chan.No it wasn't. Checkmate has never been confirmed to be anything. Jumping to a conclusion based on something cryptic that Axl said in a chat in 2008 is not a confirmation.

Jumping to a conclusion based on something cryptic that Axl said in a chat in 2008 is not a confirmation. There was nothing cryptic about Axl's response, it was very clear - "And Checkmate is a bogus title. The working title is Jackie Chan". You fail, again. Now shut the fuck up with your negative bullshit, or I'll have to take you down.
rocker rockstar Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 I think it depends on what the Label and Axl can agree to release. If the label is hell bent on a traditional rock album then I don't see Chinese Democracy II coming out tell they are dropped from the label or maybe as a last minute cash out by the label to try and recoop some of their money. I really think it will be a new rock album with DJ writting a lot of it. DJ wrote a lot of the last Motley Crue album Saints Of Los Angeles. so I don't see why he could not do a lot of the next album. Of course it may be a little from everyone and may be a lot of Axl's songs since he is the leader of the band.
estrangedtwat Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 It'll take more than an off-hand remark like that. He's just as likely pulling your leg as telling the truth. And what IS the truth in Axl's world? That there is a trilogy of CDs coming out, one after the other? That the Better video will debut any day now? It must be sad to worship your emperor and see that he's got no clothes on.

I didn't mention anything else, so I don't know where you're pulling all this other stuff from, your ass? Gunsnfnroses didn't close in the end, so why don't you fuck off back there.

You might not believe Axl's lofty plans for the future, but you'd be a moron to not believe him when he says what the songs are called. And "just as likely pulling your leg"? Yes, because Axl usually jokes about his music and while looking at the post in context it really seems like that's what he was doing... Edited September 1, 2012 by SoulMonster
