bacardimayne Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Is it at least getting radio play? Every time I listen to the song it amazes me how much I fucking love it.
FuddMckagan Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Radio probably wouldn't play it, and Slash said there's no way he would cut it down to radio-friendly length.
bacardimayne Posted September 8, 2012 Author Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) But... it's a radio friendly track. Nothing that needs to be censored, not overly long, somewhat simple structure. The only thing they'd probably consider doing would be shaving a few seconds off the outro solo. Be worth it to get the best song on the album by a mile some exposure. John Bonham Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 There's a lot of legal people out there who would try to stop "Anastasia" from being released to the fans. It's something I've always wanted to do. The suits are more interested in making money for themselves than doing that anything for the fans and it's nothing to do with me not getting off my ass and doing it. That's not to mention that there's many times I've been sabotaged, and the powers-that-be won't allow any recognition of the new guys. I look at it for the most part like FM radio, the personalities, disc jockeys, whatever they call themselves, they're friendly but otherwise cutthroat. We're lucky to get what we got but feel we could have done more if they were at least, especially with some of their backgrounds, a bit more involved creatively.
bran Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) its a great track should have been the single i understand its a little over 6 minutes but i think it fits perfectly for the radio Edited September 8, 2012 by bran

That's what he would say.
ChineseDemocracy2004 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I have heard it on the radio a couple of times.I think it would be a strong single. No More Heroes should be their next single.
moreblack Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 It's pretty long, only reason I can think of.
uctalum01 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I've heard it on satellite radio. I think I've heard it on both octane and Ozzy's boneyard. I'm pretty sure Eddie Trunk has played it on his show, too.
Bards Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Radio won't allow anything over four minutes to be a single anymore. Which is a damn shame, because it's a killer track.
The Linguini Occurrence Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Radio won't allow anything over four minutes to be a single anymore. Which is a damn shame, because it's a killer track.Yup. Slash even came out and said "You're A Lie" was released first because "it's interesting enough and short enough".
siraddam Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Radio still plays November Rain and Paradise City which are both over 6 minutes!!
Damn_Smooth Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) The real world doesn't give a shit about Slash. Edit: It's a crying fucking shame because Slash finally made a great song and it's being ignored. What can you do when nobody cares though? Edited September 9, 2012 by Damn_Smooth
vaida Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 It's quite a long song. I love the different stages. The opening, the second opening, the main part, then the long amazing ending.
CharlieSheen Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Anastasia should've been the first single released instead of You're A Lie,
The Linguini Occurrence Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Edit: It's a crying fucking shame because Slash finally made a great song and it's being ignored. What can you do when nobody cares though? No matter how great the music may be, no fucking musician/singer/band that was popular in the 80's is going to have their new stuff get heavy air play. It just ain't gonna happen, because not many people born after 1980 will allow themselves to get into musicians that their parents were into
SONOFABITCH Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Damn_Smothe you are damn wrong. I heard Slash and Myles on the radio a few days ago. Know the last time I heard new GNR on the radio? 2009 at the LATEST.

Ever wonder why an album that sells over 3 million gets less airplay than an album that sells a couple hundred thousand tops? Definitely couldn't be politics, could it? Has to be all of that public demand.Edit: PPS. I heard Sixam on the radio yesterday and I turned it off. Because that sucked too. Edited September 14, 2012 by Damn_Smooth
Rovim Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Slash really let loose on that song. If only there was more shit like that on the album...I don't see it doing too well as a single tbh, but it's a really cool song anyway imo.
Nosaj Thing Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 The real world doesn't give a shit about Slash. Please sit down, hold tight a prepare to kiss my conspirator ass.

Crash Diet Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 The real world doesn't give a shit about Slash. This fits for Axl's GNR too...(and don't forget: Axl hold the brandname, not the"Tophat")
