Honestly, it frequently seems like Dj is the only one who even gives a crap at anywhere near the same level that we do (probably b/c like many of us he was a fan back in the day) and yet he's the one who's routinely shat upon. Fair enough. Dj is by no means perfect. I just think his enthusiasm for GN'R (whatever the motivations) is a refreshing change though. I respect that he seems to actually give a crap and I hope to God it re-ignites Axl.

Very hard to get excited about shows now, i remember when there was a hiatus and they announced some US shows i was ready to fly to the 1st show of the tour, now its like eh whatever, really just need a new cd to get the excitement back.

I personally want to hear what DJ can do in the studio with this band. If his creative force can help convince Axl to write, record and release music on a regular basis, then all his ridiculous Swag stuff, and bragging about how much booze he drinks and ass he kicks will all be worth it.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I'll take Dj's promotional efforts (chessey and self-serving as they can be at times) over talking jibberish through sock puppets (Bucket), watching TV in the closet and a general all-around vibe of "I'd rather be in NIN" (Robin) and Uncle Axl's "can't be bothered" approach. As far as the playing goes- he's NOT that bad IMHO- just a slightly more generic/safer player to date. I've also seen him more or less own the crowd on two separate occasions in Orlando- which was a heck of a lot better than watching Finck get booed/ignored most of the show back in the day (and I'm a Finck guy playing-wise- so that definitely gutted me a bit).

Anyway- just find it strange that we're constantly taking the whipping stick to literally the ONLY band member who seems concerned with promotion and keeping the name out there. I kind of look at Dj as how many of us might be were we fortunate enough to be in the band: "Fuck! We're Guns N' Fuckin' Roses!! Let's stop hanging out in the fucking shadows!!". I respect that about him- though I readily grant that Dj no doubt has his own promotional agenda in mind at times too...
