axlslash Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 God is it nice to have this crew back together. The new record is a bit poppier than my tastes (my complaint with Rock Steady as well), but it's nice to have a real band making real music. With Bieber, Gaga, and all these pop singers topping the charts constantly, it's nice to actually have a band with original songs they wrote themselves putting out quality records. The first single, "Looking Hot," is incredibly catchy and right in line with "Just a Girl" as far as the kind of feminist prog-rock stuff they've always done. Vocals are tight, good guitar work...pretty solid record. Any other fans? Quote
gunsguy Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 (edited) I did some of the other stuff but the new single is not hitting me right, kinda like Gwen is trying to hard to sound like erm Gwen? How can I explain, reminds me of Metallica after the black album became so big he tried to hard on the next to sound more like that album kinda thing mocking himself overdoing it I suppose.Like No Doubt but the new single is shit IMO Edited September 30, 2012 by gunsguy Quote
axlslash Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 That's fair. The autotuned "oh" in between verses is really unnecessary. I thought the song was shit the first time I heard it, but a total earworm, and have loved it on later listens. Live versions are also killer. She also sounds a lot more relaxed on the rest of the record, and a lot less forced. Quote
Guest Len B'stard Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Fuckin hate No Doubt, fake Ska, ugh Quote
Johnny Drama Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 I wouldn't say they've ever put themselves out as pure ska Lenny. Quote
izzygirl Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 No doubt is not my thing, but some songs are ok. Quote

Guest Sleeping Like An Angel Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 I think it's good. Gwen looks younger than ever. How is that even possible!? Quote

axlslash Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 Speaking as a dude....I'd kill for her abs. Jeeze. I'm a 24-year-old marathon runner and can't get that toned. Quote

Dariablue Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Love this record! Absolutely love it. Some of the songs (Looking Hot, Easy and Push and Shove) had to grow on me, but now I like every single song. Can't wait to see them on tour. I like that they went back to their roots more with this record. Very dance hall-esque. No complaints. Quote
