highvoltage
So... kicking off with a fresh 4 piece doing covers to start out with. Can anyone suggest any GN'R songs that still sound OK with one guitar?

Guest Satanisk_Slakt
Don't Cry is the best by far, in my opinion.
bacardimayne
Songs from UYI probably, since they don't have the dueling guitar sound that's so prevalent on AFD.

highvoltage
Don't Cry is the best by far, in my opinion.Cool. We actually already play Don't Cry! Anyone tried to pull off any of the AFD songs with one guitar? Or do you just lose too much?
Tyler Drama
You could try Paradise City.Yesterdays could work. And Knockin' On Heaven's Door.
Bumble's Bridge Pickup
SCOM could work because everyone is too busy to sing along to the solo instead of hearing the lack of rhythm guitar.
LysanderSky
Dead Horse works quite well...
sagisteph
14 Years could sound great. Right Next Door To Hell too, cause the guitar solo doesn't need as much rythm guitar as other songs imo
Powerage5
From AFD, probably My Michelle?
Chewbacca
WTTJ and Rocket Queen for sure, both guitars play pretty much the same shit, except for the verses on RQ's, but you won't miss the rhythm on it anyways (there's also that outro riff that is slightly different for each player, though they do play the same riffing in the middle of the outro). On the other hand, there's a lot of twin guitar thingy on Don't Cry, TBH. Both Izzy and Slash are playing key parts on the melody.Coma and IRS are also good, if you have an ERG, drop tunned, of course, or an octave pedal (or the Whammy DT, which pretty much gives you both), you would be able to do bass lines as well.If you are familiar with 8 finger tapping you would be able to do a half decent Better, but... nah, it still sounds like shit. Nevermind that.

James Bond
Jungle works with one guitar. You lose Izzy's lick in the intro but that's about it. Mr. Brownstone is also passable with one guitar. Most of the Illusions stuff is because, like someone mentioned, there isn't really the duel guitar thing as there was on Appetite.
AxlisOld
I used to do Sweet Child in a 3 piece, worked well.
Chewbacca
I've been playing Civil War with one guitar for ages and, besides that small lick in the opening verses, that 12 10 10 11 12 thingy, you won't be losing much either.
