Randy Lahey Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Why does Led Zeppelin get compared to Black Sabbath? I love Sabbath, but Led Zeppelin was better in every way. Quote
dalsh327 Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Isn't it the other way around? What made Led Zep special was Page having all those hours producing and engineering, and figuring out how to work on a tight budget without sacrificing quality. They never really struggled to put songs together until "In Through the Out Door". Quote
Randy Lahey Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 In Through the Out Door still had All My Love, Fool in the Rain and In The Evening on it. Quote
DieselDaisy Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Deep Purple are better than both bands. Quote
moreblack Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 (edited) Deep Purple are better than both bands. Purple had good moments, but they put out more bad than good. Partly due to the constant lineup changes, not finding their identity right off the bat, meandering around in areas they shouldn't have tried, and members just plain not getting along. In Rock, Machine Head and Made In Japan are great, but everything else is very hit and miss. There's still some great moments in the other albums, but a lot of crap too. Black Sabbath Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I believe Sabbath was, and is, better. That said, Zeppelin is not my favorite band, but they are pretty solid and I enjoy a good handful of songs. Quote
bran Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 sabbath blows away zeppelin and im a big zeppelin fan. Quote
moreblack Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I think Sabbath's limitations as musicians and writers grew to suffocating levels by the time they finished Vol. 4, from that point on it's pretty much freefall. Quote

Randy Lahey Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Everybody in Zeppelin was way more talented than their counterparts in Sabbath. Quote
wasted Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 both bands are from the Birmingham area? we're out at similar time period. Zepp seem like far superior musicians but Sabbath seem to have have more influence, prob because how can you really be as good as Zepp. Quote
Ragnar Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 (edited) sabbath blows away zeppelin and im a big zeppelin fan.No love Sabbath but zepp was ten times better then Sabbath ever was and ever will beDeep Purple are better than both bands.Once again no Deep Purple MK II was close to zepp but not better Edited November 3, 2012 by Son of a Guns Quote

moreblack Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 (edited) I agree about Presence, it gets a bad rap, but anything following Physical Graffitti would suffer accordingly. However, once you listen with fresh ears, there's some gold in there. Even obscure tracks like Hots On For Nowhere and For Your Life have gotten some love in recent years.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2g-rz6s3Xw As for Iommi and Page, Bron Yr Aur>Fluff Edited November 3, 2012 by moreblack Quote

Zint Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Why does Led Zeppelin get compared to Black Sabbath? I love Sabbath, but Led Zeppelin was better in every way.Early 70's they both were the heaviest shit around..that's why. Quote
DieselDaisy Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 The worst Purple album simply pisses on Zep. But then, I consider Queen and Lizzy to be better bands than Zep. Kiss also. Quote
moreblack Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 (edited) And none of that is quite believable. Slaves And Masters is better than nothing, neither is Come Taste The Band. Edited November 4, 2012 by moreblack Quote
Ragnar Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 (edited) Some hilarious posts here Zepp pissed all over Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Queen ( don`t make me laugh please ) and Kiss ( Big fucking LOL ) Purple, Sabbath and Lizzy were great bands but not better then Zepp not even close each zepp member was ten times better musician then their counterparts from any of these bands Queen never was my bottle of beer Kiss is a disgrace of real Rock music sound that Zepp made was years ahead then any of these bands but as wise people said each to his ownstormbringer was awesome Only ballads were good riff on self tittled rocked everything else sucked Edited November 4, 2012 by Son of a Guns Quote
