Lithium
Said the one that thinks that "Hercules in NY" is the best movie ever. Yes, I was being very serious when I said that. I think Hercules in New York is the best movie ever made. It is the pinnacle of cinema.
Chloe
I actually just watched The Lost Boys a few weeks ago and I had forgotten how good it was! AMAZING movie. I grew up on it.

Stiff Competition
It's all a personal thing. Film snobs can think that some bullshit artsy film is the best of all time and some one else can think Army of Darkness is. It's all in what you like. Lost Boys is cool, not one of my personal favorites but it is a fun flick.
izzygirl
So...is this a good or a bad movie? Reading your replies I don't know if I should watch it.

estrangedtwat
Fucking watch it already. And fucking love it like most human beings on the planet earth.Leave all your weird-ass uptight "blame" shit behind and just enjoy a good goddamn movie for fuck's sake without being all fucking weird and gross about it. bacardimayne
So...is this a good or a bad movie? Reading your replies I don't know if I should watch it.It's the quintessential 80s movie. If you grew up in the 80s, you'll like it. If not, you probably won't.

Zint
It's good, but terribly 80's dated.Watched it last week on blu-ray as part of the annual Halloween movie marathon. It was fun to see again, but man....not the best movie ever. luciusfunk
Great movie? Yes. Best vampire movie? Quite possible. Best movie ever? No. That being said, I've loved it since I saw it the first time at age five.
Guest Satanisk_Slakt
I think The Warriors might be almost as good. Braindead is great as well.
appetite4illusions
Wasn't even the best vampire movie of that year.Near Dark is a superior film, even though Jami Gertz is my all time 80's crush
Redhead74
There's no such thing as 'the best *whatever* of all time. It's all subjective.
Guest Len B'stard
OR...perhaps its not even meant to be looked at in those terms? Of betters and worses i mean. In the modern age artistic endeavour is led by commerce but if you think about it, betters, worses, number 1,2,3,4,5, these concepts are kind of contrary to the notion of what art is supposed to be, it's a form of expression, there really isn't any competition to it, it's sort of like going to an AA meeting and like, grading each person based on their tale, it's not what they're there for.But it is...probably why so much of it is naff nowadays. Guest Satanisk_Slakt
Bullshit. Some films are better than others, it's not subjective at all.If you tell me that you think that Kindergarden Cop is the best film of all time, I can tell you that you're wrong. It's a fact that it isn't.The Lost Boys is on the other hand great. It's a classic with great plot and soundtrack. I think it is the best film, we could close this thread really, there isn't anything to discuss any more, I've made up my mind.

What are the rules by which you discern one movie is better than another? And how and under whoose auspices are these rules settled upon? Guest Len B'stard
If I like it it's good. If I don't like it it isn't.So the person watching decides? Well see there you go, it is subjective then, isn't it? Thats the very definition of subjective. Unless you mean you decide for the entire world and if that is the case, i wish you'd inform the rest of us, perhaps by post or email or something, it'll settle a lot of pointless arguments and discussions all across the world Edited November 5, 2012 by sugaraylen
