Randy Lahey Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 (edited) Do you think it would be easier for New GNR to have a hit with an original song or a cover song? I think it's maybe time for Axl to use his voice to interpret other people's songs and remind people again of how great a singer he once was. Edited November 14, 2012 by Randy Lahey
saber_ Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I thought you said you were ready to quit being a fan or something melodramatic like that... now you want him to do your bidding?
Guest Gunns Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 (edited) I'd love a proper studio version of Kohd, the one that was released sucks. Didn't Axl talk about how he wanted to release an updated version in the 2006 eddie trunk chats? Edited November 14, 2012 by Gunns
wasted Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 GNR covering Free Bird probably would be a hit.
ronartest2004 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Very good question. I'd say for the mass public it would have to be a cover...And if they could get it on a movie soundtrack I think that would help too.I know,I know...oh my god and if the world were on soundtracks....but I think they'd have more interest if it was a cover...if anything it would get people talking.
wasted Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 maybe a Dj penned Used to Love Her 2 could go No. 1 on the country charts.
izzydoezit Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 In the band's current state I'd say that it simply is impossible for GNR to make a hit, whether that is an original or a cover song. The momentum of GNR as a mainstream act has gone away for good. Even a reunited AFD lineup could not make a hit at this point.
wasted Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 a hit mp3 on iTunes. I have no idea how that happens. I guess if they release it before an album that could get some attention and make it on to the charts.
Redhead74 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I'd like to say original but I think with the current appearance of NuGNr I'd have to say a cover. I think for the general public to take any notice or to look kindly on the current incarnation of GNR it would take a really good version of a much loved and well known song.
Randy Lahey Posted November 14, 2012 Author Posted November 14, 2012 (edited) I think the general public would be more accepting of New GNR releasing a classic rock cover song than New GNR releasing an original techno industrial rocker with a non melodic Bumblefoot shred solo. HisRoyalSweetness Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 if he had some successful songwriters in his band, i'd say original. but considering who's under contract these days, i think he'd have more luck covering something else.
