Chinaski Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I watched the Immortal Technique documentary a few weeks back and it sent me back to some of his stuff I hadn't listened to in ages. Quote
sweetness Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 (edited) media tags wont work for some reason...my little borther handed me Joey Badass's mixtape 1999, some of the content is pretty imature but I've been digging it, kids like 17 or something Edited November 14, 2012 by sweetness Quote
Guest Len B'stard Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 (edited) I'm really loving Slaughterhouse at the moment, Lyrical Murderers and Microphone being two songs i'm particularly stuck on Although as a person Joe Budden seems to be a bit of a dick, talkin' all that shit a little while back about how he'd slay Meth' on the mic and blah blah blah and he runs into Rae, gets smacked like a bitch and put in his place and he shows up on youtube crying with a steak on his swelling, what a nobhead Edited November 14, 2012 by sugaraylen Quote
Jabberwocky Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I'm not really into rap with the exception of Dr. Octagon and The Beastie Boys. I could, though, listen to turntabalists all day like DJ Shadow, Coldcut, Grandmaster Flash, etc. Same with R&B. I like some but prefer funk. Alot of R&B post 80's sounds like it belongs on a Cinemax softcore porn soundtrack. Quote
Death Star Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I like Mac Lethal, Public Enemy Doomtree, Rhymsayers, etc. Basically Alternative, Political and Conscious rap. Radio rap and all that bullshit can suck my left nut. I also like Wu-Tang, Eminem (before Encore, though Mosh was a great song.), Beastie Boys, old school such as LL Cool J, N.W.A., Eazy-E etc. So can anyone recommend me more rap in the alternative/ conscious style? Jakey Styley Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) been listening to Kendrick Lamar's new album a lot this and last week. ordered it a couple of days ago, hopefully i'll get it tomorrow. That album literally changed my life. It's like Chronic 2012.Loving all these new rappers. A$AP Rocky, Kendrick, even Chief Keef...and 2 Chainz isn't exactly "new" but he broke out this year and he's just unstoppable.I only realllllly got into rap in the last year but I think it's been a great year. Cruel Summer, MMG Self Made Vol 2, Dreamchasers 2+Dreams & Nightmares (from philly so im forced to love meek mill) were all great.and lol @ Lil Wayne falling off. Shame, he used to be so good. Coma16 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Whats the word on Dre's Detox? Is it ever coming out? Quote
Guest Len B'stard Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I couldn't care less about Detox at the moment, people act like it's something thats being worked on with some degree of focus and/or with a coherent plan and a schedule, otherwise it's just a fuckin' imaginary album like Chinese Democracy II, who knows if Dre'll ever release it, if i was him i wouldn't, why risk fuckin' with the track record when you can be just as productive if not more producing other peoples shit and letting their like, vision guide you and/or working along with their vision which is how Dre has stated he works as a producer anyway, why burden yourself with that shit? The first Chronic was a classic, 2001 was something of a fluke really, there were some good artists around at the time and he managed to pull em together on that shit, amazing album but not the type of one thats easy to pull of time and time again, the landscape in hip hop has changed seriously since then. SunnyDRE Posted November 17, 2012 Author Posted November 17, 2012 Lovin' this......the beat kinda has Nine Inch Nail sound to it imo?one the hottest songs were I live at the moment. Quote
Jakey Styley Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 ^Songs been in my head since I first heard the album. I keep hearing it more and more on the radio here too, but I still never hear it talked about or sung... feel like people I know are embarrassed to show they enjoy it because of its sorta anti-alcohol theme. I'm in high school.Found out A$AP Rocky's album is delayed until 2013. Really disappointed, I feel like there's not much good rap coming out for a while. All the big artists released shit recently. bacardimayne Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 dling the kendrick lamar album now Quote
Roush Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Whoa, Kendrick is amazing. The music is eh, but elocution is tops. Slaugherhouse had a quality record a few years back. But the new one with Shady is over-processed, over-produced, over-hooked shit. Quote
Johnny Drama Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 (edited) Keep it real, yo.Never properly knew this Kendrick Lamar guy before. Heard the name, but wasn't interested. Hip-hop don't do shit for anyone nowadays. But checked out the track, the guy's background and the fact Dre produced his shit. Well I can't turn that down.
