Paul McCartney Tickets - Jackpot or Scam?

So basically, Paul McCartney is playing here in two days. Someone on Kijiji (Edmonton's version of Craigslist) is selling a floor ticket for less than face value. We agreed to meet at a Ticketmaster and have the guy there scan it to verify if it's real or not before I buy it. Is this a foolproof plan? Can a scan at Ticketmaster determine if it's a real ticket or not? I'm really skeptical about the price, but the story she gave me sounds legit, and she sounds more than willing to get it verified (at my suggestion, not hers). What do you guys think?

Well, if it gets through a scan at Ticketmaster the first time, I don't see why it wouldn't the second.

What I'm asking is, will a scan at Ticketmaster determine authenticity? Like, can the barcode be real but the ticket still be fake?

I mean, I would think so? I don't know though. But, if the barcode scans and comes up in their system, what I'm saying is, why would it be a problem the night of the show?

I'm just really paranoid because of how insanely good a deal it is. :nervous:

If she paid by credit card, her info will come up on screen.

Have her hand her ID/credit card to the clerk and get her to verify the info matches.

If it's a match, you should be ok.

If it's a print at home ticket on a piece of paper, ask the clerk if she can issue you an actual ticket.

Then her purchase info will be on record with Ticketmaster, get her to hand the credit card to the clerk. The clerk can swipe it and bring up the purchase and verify that the info matches her card.

If she won't do that, I'd back away.

If it matches, ask the clerk if the purchase can be changed to your name / Ticketmaster account.

I think if the ticket gets scanned, it is no longer valid. Example! When you buy printable tickets and it gets scanned, barcode is read and cannot be read again. My cousin can't come 5 mins later with the same ticket. It's tricky man, and craigslist has a ton of con artists. Even if you get the actual ticket, you never know. I have 4 tixs that were mailed to me for the GNR show in Vegas for the 24th. I called and cancelled these tixs for another date. Mind you ticketmaster rarely does this, but I didn't want my money back. I wanted tickets for the same artist, but different date. They also messed up on something, so they did the whole refund/exchange. Here is my point, they still shipped out the tickets to the date I cancelled. The were no longer valid, but still have them. Lots of ways you can get screwed. The ONLY full proof way, is of that person is attending the concert too. They enter first, and give all (including yours) tixs to the person scanning them . And you follow. Pay the person once you enter.

Show was amazing. The moment Paul came out it hit me like a ton of bricks that I was actually looking directly at Paul McCartney. The setlist was awesome. Like 40 songs, spanning from early Beatles cuts like The Night Before and And I Love Her to late Beatles stuff like Let it Be and The Long and Winding Road, to Wings stuff, and even some of his recent solo stuff. The best parts of the night were the Hey Jude nananana singalong and the Edmonton Police Service coming out with bagpipes for Mull of Kintyre.

10/10 concert. Paul sounded fucking incredible for a 70 year old. His band was great too.
