Anybody else wish Zeppelin would reform and tour just to destroy The Stones and U2's touring records?

Zep are not even in the same league as the Rolling Stones.

This is true. Zeppelin are in a much better league. The Stones have almost 30 years more on Zep and still don't have the greatness that Zep had/has.

Beggars Banquet, Sicky Fingers, Aftermath, Exile, Out of Our Heads, Let it Bleed, Some Girls - come back when Zep can write an album as good as these as opposed to the crappy elvin and fairy shit they put out.

I love both band and don't see a reason to be taking sides, both have classic album and many great songs, Stones are clearly better night to night as their songs are not that demanding vocally also they clearly have more hits so they can change setlist whenever they want.

Led Zeppelin even in their prime was a hit or miss live, o2 concert was really awesome but

1) I'm sure some studio tweaks were made

2) Plant would be to replicate that performance night to night

I love decision to keep it simple, calling it a day after one great show. That's a difference Bono or Mick Jagger more or less are able to deliver solid performances on any given night, Plant isn't.

As good as Celebration Day is, Zeppelin knows it can never live up to reunion expectations. Robert Plant is still a very good singer but unlike The Rolling Stones and U2, Zep requires incredible singing abilities that he just can't really nail at this age. Plus, AC/DC is still better touring act than all of those put together.

Led Zeppelin I, Led Zeppelin II, Led Zeppelin III, Led Zeppelin IV, Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti can easily stand up with the Stones records you mentioned.

id put presence in there too. severely underated. contains Achilles Last Stand (easily could be said to be their finest work), Tea For One, and Nobody's Fault But Mine. I think Hots on for Nowhere and For Your Life are excellent too. Candy Store Rock and Royal Orleans are fun too

i also like In Through the Outdoor but it is strange for a Zeppelin record

What's funny is that a lot of Led Zeppelin's contemporaries are more negative than positive when discussing them.

I do wish the "Becks Bolero" lineup with Steve Marriott would've happened as a one off. Listen to Truth, Led Zep I, and Humble Pie's first 2 albums and put that all in a blender.

My other "what if" would've been Black Zeppelin - Iommi/Butler/Plant/Bonham. Plant and Butler collaborating would've been really interesting, still hoping it happens.

I think the ratio of quality is better for Zeppelin too. They only released good or great albums. The Stones... not so much.

But like you stated once, Zep didn't last for the 80's and the slide into inevitable not so great releases.

They were bordering on it that's for sure.

Anything the Stones put out during Zep's tenure (up to '78) measures up.

To me, In Through The Out Door is Zep's Emotional Rescue..as in  "uh oh" .
