Dazey
I became a skeptic after I realized the same guy who directed King Kong would be directing this movie. So you hadn't clicked on that he was the same guy that made Lord of the Rings? Chloe
Huge fan of Lord of the Rings over here. I'm still hoping it will be awesome. I'm not gonna let the reviews ruin the excitement!
arnold layne
I only watched the first one, I so I don't have a general knowledge of the movies.Regardless, the point is that I probably wouldn't have liked the Lord of the Rings movies anyway because I didn't like the books. I did like the Hobbit though, and when I discovered that he was the same person who directed King Kong, I was disappointed.
Dazey
King Kong was a great movie other than the occasional crappy effects shot here and there. I can't understand why anybody's surprised that this is getting criticism though. I mean the 300 pages into three movies? Really?
Georgy Zhukov
I think Peter Jackson gave it all he got in The Lord of the Rings and doesn't have it in him anymore.

Really? Also people need to realize it isn't 2001 anymore, when LOTR came out it was such an achievement because people thought it would never be possible to film it, now 10 years have passed and you're releasing a film that is of a lesser scale arguably than LOTR. Also like you mentioned, the 3 films is ridiculous and entirely unnecessary.
Randy Lahey
I fell asleep in the theater during one of the LOTR movies.

AxlisOld
The only thing that I've heard is the 48fps framerate fucks with people's heads and they get a soap opera effect.

downzy
I'm not sure what you can really expect from a movie that's based on the first 100 pages of a book. It screams total cash grab that they made three installments to the movie. If they could make one movie per Lord of the Rings book, surely they could have made one movie for The Hobbit (which I believe is a shorter book). I was somewhat excited about this movie until I heard this. Then again, apparently we'll see a new Superman trailer with the Hobbit Part 1 so at least that's something... I love the book, i loved the LOTR books and movies, i love the silmarillion but im not really sure about this, i will watch them but if it was just one movie i think it could be great but 3? AxlisOld
I hope The Hobbit makes a profit so MGM won't bust again.Betcha they're praying the same thing.I don't feel one bit sorry if a movie studio goes under. Piracy is GROSSLY overstated. Just make good movies, and people will see them. Also, 13, 14, 15 dollars to see a movie is why people aren't going to the theaters. I don't see movies in the theaters, but I buy them when they come out if I hear they're good.

The 3D and IMAX craze seems to be bringing people back to the theaters. I never cared for them. I saw Skyfall for $10 at this hole in the wall theater up in New Milford
