CharlieSheen Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Jimi Hendrix > Jimmy Page > Eddie Van Halen > Eric Clapton, although depending on my mood Eddie Van Halen would be bottom with Clapton in 3rd place, the top 2 will always stay the same Quote
Johnny Drama Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Hendrix and Van Halen on the guitarist front but Hendrix and Page on an all round basis (I personally like Page the most as a guitarist anyway).what is WRONG with you people?!?!?! Randy Lahey Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 I love all 4 players, but Hendrix is number 1 for me. Quote
DirtyDeeds Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Toss up between Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen. Both reinvented what it was to play electric guitar and I'm not going to hold one's being older and playing in the '60s against the other one. On pure guitar levels, I'd have to say it's a tie.So, like this:Hendrix/EVH.....Jimmy Page...................Clapton (the whitest of white boy blues) Quote
LightningBolt Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Hendrix by a considerable amount.Van Halen's debut is fantastic, but everything after that is pretty goddamn boring, including the guitar playing. Never really got into Clapton or Zeppelin too much, outside of a few great Zeppelin songs (outnumbered by the many 'meh' songs from them I've heard). Quote
Johnny Drama Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Fuck that man, that is fuckin' perfection distillate.I know it is but have you heard The Lemon Song?! That vocal performance is perfection. Quote

That vocal performance is perfection. Not only the vocals, that groove by Bonzo and Jonesy is untouchable. Page had the far better band. Quote
dalsh327 Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Hendrix and Van Halen were prob. the best as individuals coming up with the melodies. No one talks about The Firm or Coverdale/Page, do they? Quote
moreblack Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Although they're both a bit underrated. Quote

Vincent Vega Posted December 10, 2012 Author Posted December 10, 2012 Keep in mind: This thread isn't about who's BETTER; It's who you enjoy listening to more.Like, technically, Jimi Hendrix runs circles around pretty much every other guitarist in terms of ability and skill. But I much prefer the music Jimmy Page made. Quote
