Creepman 06
I know this topic has been discussed several times before, but It's an interesting one that still calls for speculation. On certain tunes you can hear the influence of several bands/tunes/styles. There are some though, where you can really narrow it down. Here's a few of mine, starting from the most obvious and ending with the least obvious:Catcher in the RyeOzzy-TonightSorryLennon-How do you sleep?ProstituteFiona Apple-LimpIRSAerosmith-Dream onRhiadLed Zeppelin-Immigrant SongChinese DemocracyNirvana-Drain you (Nirvana in general)BetterSchool of Fish-Three Strange DaysIf the WorldFaith No More-Stripsearch (The band Massive Attack in general)
phaeryen
Chinese Democracy, the title song, kicks off with obvious nine inch nails sounding power chords that instantly transport you back to 1992-4.

pe_teko
I don't agree in any of them.Axl explained where ITW came from. Sorry: doom metalCather has the Lennon thing, but it's a mess. I think that one is a tribute to Lennon. Not that obvious influences.
Bansidhe
Prostitute - Unfinished Sympathy by Massive Attack meets Bittersweet Symphony by Verve.Unfinished Symphony is a good shout. Also always reminds me of You Stole The Sun From My Heart by the Manics. The way it goes from a chilled out drum loop into a big heavy guitar part. Both cracking tunes. Val22
I'm sure Axl has his favorite musicians that inspire him.Alot of musicians do that sometimes to honor their idols.I still say most if not all the CD songs are a book about Axl's life. He's said he's always written about personal things, so I think that's what this album is. It's like a map of Axl's life up to now.Whatever it is, I still like this cd very much and think Axl should be very proud of what he's written. Have you ever heard a pearl jam song?Im struggling on Twat. Its more the tone of the guitar on the early rifff but sounds like something off PJ self titled. Twat is kind of the Gimme Shelter of CD. Does the album end with Scraped and Sorry.
