Anyone else feel like they're in the middle of the road?

I feel like the D&N section is full of people entirely out of touch with reality.

They either praise CD as the best thing since the Beatles, or act like its a horrible awful disgusting trash album.

I strongly believe these people on both sides have very slim exposure to music, and are probably the same idiots who think that any music without guitars and synthisized violens is terrible.

Chinese Democracy is an average album. Which should come as a disappointment, considering with proper promotion it could have been a bit bigger of a release (it would never have been huge, though)

It was a solid release, that didn't live up to its hype, was not a masterpiece, and was also nowhere near being 'horrible'.

It fact it was pretty cool to listen to it in 2008 and early 2009. I haven't really touched it since then... But it really was 'that' kind of album. You pick it up and blast it until you get bored and sick of it.

I invite those who disagree to listen to some REAL masterpieces and some REAL failure albums, and expand their knowledge and tastes in music before making wild claims about an album who's popularity in 2012 is localized to three fan forums.

i don't like VR and am completely sick of CD. i know axl can still put out good music, what he simply can't do anymore is to sing live with any quality, so he should stop touring so much and focus on studio work, where his voice will always be perfect.

I somewhat agree. In my opinion Democracy is a mixed bag: some absolutely brilliant songs (TWAT, Better, SOD, Madagascar), some medicore tracks (IRS, Sorry) and one or two absolute turds (the title track, scraped). In sum total, it is a decent album.

You probably do have a weaker understanding of music.

And you have an incredibly weak grasp on the connection between music and subjectivity.

This isn't a thread about subjectivity. You can love CD as much as you want.

Doesn't make it a masterpiece, man.

You were making a good point until you post your opinions as facts.

Well consider the analogy 'One man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter'. This is also applicable to music. Who qualifies to deem music a 'masterpiece'? The reality is, anybody. If it makes love to your ears and mind, call it a masterpiece.

It is a bit rich for a NuGNR fan to criticise Aerosmith and The Rolling Stones for being uncool.

I'm not a GNR fan at all.

GNR is irrelevant. Just as much as the Stones and Aerosmith.

i still listen to it somewhat frequently, it think it is a very good album, is it a masterpiece? that is up to the listener to decide, not some idiot on a blog or working at some shitty magazine to tell people.

as for the stones and aerosmith they are very relevant.

This ain't the 60s and 70s brah. The Stones and Aerosmith haven't had a hit single in years.

The op is a moron. Music is 100% opinion. Nothing is fact. You can think whatever you like about anything. some people say Chinese democracy is a masterpiece, so the op belittles there music knowledge or infers they must be old and out of "it." This is what is hilarious about the forum and real life, people talk about music like it's a fact. Sorry, it's not.

Talk to me in 25, 40 or 50 years (the time gnr, aerosmith and the stones have been around) and let's see how many of today's relevant (your opinion) are still being talked about. The fact that everyone (people who don't live under a rock) at least know who those band's are still today Says it all. Take 99% of "music" acts today and in 5 years people's responses will be "I remember him/her. Lol." Just because you are a flavor of the month doesn't mean shit. Let's put love me do and anything from today up against each other, and in 5 years we'll see what is talked about and respected more. And that's not to take away from anyone who likes new artists, music has just changed. With the advent of the internet, Flavor of the months are more common than ever. Attention spans are shorter thAn ever. Music artists of today arguably have to work harder than ever to stay relevant to today.
