Which Chinese Democracy Songs Would Fit Well in UYI Albums; and Vice Versa?

SOD, TWAT, Catcher, Madagascar, TIL all seem like they could have been on UYI II.

Yesterdays, Breakdown, Estranged would fit on CD.

I think it makes sense that those songs could have easily be on UYI 2 cause they all lean to being more of ballads. Axl knows how to write a Gn'R ballad. After all, he was the one who came up with November Rain and Estranged.

Not to say that he doesn't have the ability to write a rockin' Gn'R songs like Oh My God had the right Guns aggression, and Chinese Democracy shared some elements with WTTJ and It's So Easy.

I.R.S kinda feels like a modern Out Ta Get Me.

Don't Damn Me and Locomotive have obvious Chinese Democracy overtones.

I see them as the quintessential UYI tracks, with lyrics being about illusions and all. But I think in a way they do have the seeds of a new direction. Locomotive definitely seems like a forerunner to Shackler's.

I've always thought IRS was like Brownstone meets Civil War.

Scraped is like Out Ta Get Me.

Riad is like Garden of Eden.

Prostitute is maybe lyrically like a more detailed Don't Damn Me.

I can't think of one song from the UYI albums that would make sense on CD. They are either too Slash driven (Locomotive) or too bluesy/twangy.

Only song I could see maybe off of CD that could work on UYI is TWAT, maybe a re-worked Sorry.

But instead of a rocker it's a ballad. It's like all the pieces of the puzzle have been moved around.

There seems like a Coma element to Catcher and Prostitute. Axl really goes for it vocally in the tribute to Lennon part, Prostitute is sung in the Coma voice. I wonder how conscious these decisions were.

all the influences aside CD is still very much a GNR album.

It's like the shift between the rest of the parts in Prostitute to it's outro is similar to Rocket Queen's shift to it's outro, only it's said more with the music (instrumental) making it powerful with the sense of closure, only in a calmer way. The quiet before the cd ll storm.

Sometimes I think Prostitute is about Rocket Queen.

I definitely hear some SCOM in SOD and Better. It's So Easy and YCBM in Shackler's. Jungle in Chi Dem. Sorry is like Don't Cry. TWAT is like Paradise City meets Estranged. Catcher and TIL are the Estranged and Nov Rain.

I always thought of There Was a Time as a UYI 3 track. The old band could've definitely worked Catcher in the Rye and Street of Dreams into Illusion tracks as well.

I don't know about any songs going the other way, though. Other than My World.

Oh My God is like a slower Right Next Door To Hell musically (especially the intro) mixed by Trent Reznor. The devil kind of thing of End Of Days fits with the Right Next Door To Hell theme, only it's really about something else altogether.

Strong outro in this one as well. Kinda like the perfect outro to close cd 2. Short, and brutal in it's finallity. Mean as hell like the rest of the song.

From the day I first heard it, I thought Catcher sounded most like an Illusions type song. I even feel like Bumble's solo isn't unlike what Slash would have done with the song circa 1991.

Still don`t understand why everyone wets their pants on demo of CITR album version is much better
