Randy Lahey
Does anybody know if Seven and Zodiac are songs about serial killers? Edited January 10, 2013 by Randy Lahey
jman2000
I don't think anyone knows anything about these songs to tell you the truth. Possibly AxlRoseCalif (he claims to have it) and MSL might have had it or heard it.
arnold layne
It would be cool if he wrote something about Dexter. Yes I know it's fictional, but a cool character nevertheless.
Babooshka
They probably are. He does seem to connect with psychopaths, and there are a few thematic lines in CD, so why not a complete song.
jman2000
Axl did sing Look At Your Game Girl by Charles Manson, and where one of his shirts. Of course this was in '92-'93, he still could be able to write stuff like that now and be able to "connect" with that stuff.
saber_
I wonder if Axl had ideas for the zodiac song way back in '93 and '94. After all, he did encrypt a message on the cover of The Spaghetti Incident

wasted
Atlas Shrugged isn't about the book too much. I think you can assume there's some kind of link. The Seven Deadly Sins? Zodiac could be about astrology?take Catcher is it about the book, not really there's a connection. So I'd see it as a metaphor. I could see Axl writing some lyrics about how he isn't a serial killer. Like with the Manson thing, people were saying he was endorsing Manson bcos he played one of his songs. What was his response, would it be a song lyric? Just spit balling really.Like Atlas Shrugged, he carried the weight of GNR on his shoulders or something. It could be like a Watching the Wheels kind of song. Edited January 10, 2013 by wasted

Yet, Atlas Shrugged glorifies far more conservative, anti gov't tenets, while chastising the socialistic left. So it is against his political beliefs.I think Seven is a song about good luck and Zodiac is a song about birthdaysAs far as Seven, thats pretty obvious. He wanted to originally name his first kid Seven. Edited January 10, 2013 by Gunzen

Duh.any source? I think a Seven quote was used on Madagascar.like I was saying he could be giving his opinion on it. Like he did with Catcher in a way. Inspired by Atlas Shrugged. So on one hand you're like hey that's like my situation but also I don't really agree completely with the philosophy. Quite a few of the titles are ambiguous. Madagascar, the most polluted island in the world or an old pirate colony. Or was it written for the movie. Alex breaks free only to realize he misses home. axlweave
according to Brain, Seven is a ballad, have no clue what its about though. Also heard that Thyme is also a ballad.
ManetsBR
Zodiac is certainly a song about the serial killer. Axl seems to be fascinated by serial killers (Charles Manson, Dexter), and there's the encrypted message on the Zodiac codes on The Spaguetti Incident cover that says "Fuck 'em all." I see a strong relation here, I would be surprised if Zodiac is not about the serial killer case.

Scumcat Esq.
Maybe Zodiac is about some dark cryptic stuff and trying to find a clue or a way out.
liers
I think seven could be about the time Axl spent out of the public eye, as he was gone about 7 years.
