Coma16
Hey all - I've recently purchased a record player and I'm debating if I should purchase CD on vinyl. The cheapest I found a new copy for is $20 (CAD), with includes shipping to Canada.2 questions:1 - I've heard that the pressings for this album aren't the best. Is it worth purchasing or will I end up just playing the CD-version of Chinese?2 - Anyone in Canada/Toronto know of a cheaper spot to get the album? Thanks! Gordon Comstock
The issue I remember some people having was with marks and smudges on the record, so if it's not a new, sealed copy you should definitely ask for pictures of it. My copy plays fine though.I've seen used copy's online for less than $20, and if you have record stores around definitely check them out because it should be about the same price or cheaper. CD and AFD are always cheaper in record stores than Lies or the UYI's.
Coma16
Cool thanks. The few record stores that I've seen it in sell it closer to $30 (same as Amazon.ca). The eBay one for $20 includes shipping (from the US) so I might go for that on (it's sealed as well).AFD usually goes for around $20 and UYI about $40! I haven't seen Lies at all tbh but I want the original cover for that one.
Powerage5
Go for $20 if the shipping is included, the original price in Best Buy was $20, so you can't beat that. And regarding the quality...it just isn't the best sounding album on vinyl. Aside from the issues with copies having the marks on them, it doesn't sound great. It doesn't sound bad, but don't expect a 180g audiophile quality pressing. It sounds a bit better than something pressed on a picture disc, to give you an idea.

Seems like the US pressings had issues, dont know if theyve been resolved.

troccoli
troccoli, do you know if any of these misprints everyone here is talking about are of any value? Not sure about the CD vinyl misprint. First I've heard of it. As for the Live Era misprint, if it's the one I think (the cd one) then I'd say $75 at most.
