Dave Grohl has revealed that he is heading back to America to start work on a new Foo Fighters album today (February 21).

The frontman has been in the UK this week promoting his new movie Sound City and also played a gig with his new supergroup, the Sound City Players, at London's Kentish Town Forum on Tuesday (February 19). Speaking at the Brit Awards last night, Grohl revealed that he is now on his way home and will start work on the next Foo Fighters album

Following Grohl's numerous side-projects and claims made by the frontman during their headline set at Leeds Festival in 2012 many Foo Fighters fans were prepared to spend a long time waiting for the band's next album. However, speaking to host James Corden during the ceremony, Grohl stated: "I return to Los Angeles tomorrow to start work on a Foo Fighters record," Grohl revealed during a chat with host James Corden.

However, it does not appear that the album will be on stereos any time soon with Grohl's only word on a release date being "eventually".

Grohl previously hinted at his "awesome plans" for the next Foo Fighters album, stating: "We have a plan, we know exactly what's coming next and I have the music for the next record and we're going to start working on it once we finish doing all this stuff. We have really awesome, big plans for the next album and I'm really excited about it."

Foo Fighters released their last album 'Wasting Light' in 2011.

Man belongs behind a drum kit. Everything after their debut really bores me. Too generic.

Pretty much although i wouldn't EVERY SINGLE other song bores me, as albums they've been naff but a track here, track there, few of the singles were alright, nothing writin' home about but not bad.

Foos are kind of old school in the way they mail in albums with one single on it and then go out and tour. The last one I bought was In Your Honor. Their a radio band, if the song comes on it's fine but to sit down and listen to an album you need some very strong sedatives to keep you interested.

Remember being really excited when their first album came out, i think NME gave out free copies of This Is A Call :)

They say I'll Stick Around is about dear ol' K Donald Cobain. Some of those tracks were heavy though, For All The Cows, Good Grief, Weenie Beenie etc

They keep the rock flame alive. I guess the Sound City thing inspired him to regroup the Foos, because it wasn't that long ago when he said they were going on an indefinite break.

I agree that they're pretty formulaic but they have great songs in there, and put on a good live show, even tough Dave screams 90 percent of the songs out from when I saw them. Taylor's become such a big part of the band that if he quits, Dave should just retire the Foo Fighters.

TCV is probably because all three of them have to put time aside for it, but with Dave jumping all over the place...

I did like Dave's Probot project, nice way of paying tribute by working with some of his influences. Hopefully the fans sought out Mercyful Fate, COC, DRI, Celtic Frost etc). But even with his Grammys and millions in sales, couldn't get a major label release for that one. He's probably the only guy who could get King Diamond and Neil Diamond on the same stage.

I get the feeling Pat Smear couldn't hang with em cuz if you ain't exciting Pat ain't excited. I think he's one of the most amazing underrated characters in rock history, i love his 'look' too, it's so uniquely him and...i dunno, he's just one of those people that i've never seen looking like...un-cool :)

Has there ever been a band so consistently mediocre? I bought The Colour and the Shape hearing that it's supposed to be their best album. Lol.

I guess they have a decent single here and there.

This is how I feel. Yet they're arguably the biggest rock band of the last 20 years :shrugs:

No bigger than Pearl Jam, Oasis, Coldplay, Metallica, Nickelback, Creed, Green Day, etc.

They're definitely bigger than Nickelback, Pearl Jam, and Creed

I can see why they are big a lot of rock fans are regular guys. Like that guy from Ghost World. Heroin addicted artists is not something they relate to. You get the bands you deserve.

Great, so i deserve a bunch of skagheads
