He is the only drummer in GN'R history who can groove like this. The videos below are taken from his DVD. Notice how he puts together the crappiest drumset he could find and makes it sound brilliant.

While Sorum on the other hand makes a drumvideo for amateurs to learn but are using the most expensive gear and drumset that basically no one has with hundred cymbals and snares.

i am on every day but almost never sign in...i just cant take andrecc....ban this annoying fuck. biggest fucking poser. on the subject though, brain is brilliant. sorum just never really fit in my opinion. adler is great for appetite, but not sure he could have taken his skills any further musically. would have held them back going forward. frank is weakest imo. brain hands down shits on them all.

This. He was perfect for appetite and that's basically it.

I would rank the drummers like this;

1. Brain

2. Frank/Sorum (they're very similar)

3. Adler

That Riad live version is laughable at best. Not only because as far as drumming, it doesn't show anything that special, and also because Axl is completely out of breath... made me remember how bad 2002 was for GNR...

btw to whoever put the videos of Brain buying a drum set... so you're telling me that Brain is better than Matt because he bought a shitty drumset and made it look good and since Matt has done a completely different dvd, with a completely different purpose, he's worst then Brain on drums? Please...

Brain is good at doing solos, but when it comes to play a normal full song, i don't see anything special... neither i see anything special on the Guns N'Roses songs when he played them live. To me HE didn't fit GNR. Neither did Buckethead (even though this one is gonna be hard to replace).

He butchered the GNR songs and he really is far away from Matt. Matt and Josh Freese were the best drummers GNR has ever had!

The videos i put in of Matt drumming the shit out of classic songs are fucking awesome!

Obviously i will always get shit for that, because there's a lot of New GNR worshipers here. Like i said... Axl will wait another 2 or 3 years. Release the album after 7 or 8 years of waiting. The album will be another brick like Chinese Democracy was, and people like you will all say it's the best album ever made and that's it's even better than AFD or anything GNR has ever produced...i'm already expecting that kind of trolling from your part, don't worry...

No that's not what I was saying. I was pointing out one thing I like with Brains dvd compared to Matts'. Not sure what you mean by two dvds with a completely different purpose? Both released a DVD for others to learn....

Look up any drumsolo from Sorum and you will find the exact same drumsolo from Tokyo 92. In songs he can keep a steady 2 and 4 beat and use the same fills over and over again. I'm not saying he's a bad drummer, but saying he is better than Brain who can play a lot of different styles, more advanced rythms and beats is just stupid.

Shackler drumtrack.

The Tokyo 92 solo is fucking awesome! Being repetitive in drumming on full tracks is good! You can't be adding stuff all the time, otherwise it will not have the same meaning. What i see from this Shackler's track is that Brain has a great groove in the beginning than halfway he loses it... His feel and his style is more adequate to other kind of bands. Limp Bizkit for example would be a band where Brain would fit in Perfectly for example...Those are the kind of bands where you would want the drums to sound like they're always changing. Adding a couple of tricks in between.

Matt maintains the same groove throughout the song, and he adds little bits and pieces here and there, that really gives the song another speed and another meaning.

Like Josh in this video for example:

He maintains that first groove and adds only little bits and pieces in between.

You gotta be kidding me? Or are you seriously this retarded? For your sake I hope you're joking. When I said he is playing the same fills over and over again, I meant as in different songs... It's like he only knows 3-4 fills so he has to use them in all the songs. Understand? Would you like the guitarist to play the same solo in every song too?

lol

Im not gonna discuss with you anymore.

I love the sound, but he often wasn't on time. If you listen to just about any song from 2002 in something like Audacity, you can see that he almost never kept proper time with his beats. It's not terribly noticeable just listening, but when you can see the actual file you can see that he was often out of time with the rest of the band. But I loved his sound and the extras he added to old songs.

He doesn't have good rhythm in my opinion.

Yes and that fucking sucks! Actually Primus sucks. I can't find one song from them worth a listen to be honest, but i guess that depends on your taste.

Unsure if serious or an actual Primus fan having a laugh.

There isn't a single song that i like made by that band...sorry for being honest.

Curious coincedence as "Primus Sucks" is an ironic phrase that Primus and their fans use.

I've never really given them a proper listen but I do like the originality of the stuff I have heard.

I think it's unfair to lump them in with the "nu metal" brigade as they were around for years before that whole scene appeared.

Just watched the RAR video on the last page, and honestly can't remember the last time I watched something from '06. Now, I'm not saying Axl does Nightrain bad nowadays; on the contrary I think it's one of his better live songs currently. But he sings it so different than he did in '06, it's like a whole different singer.

The drumming is awesome. But I get it, you love those Matt cliches, that's understanable.

No. Because he is light years ahead of Matt "Cliche" Sorum.
