jthunders13
This was on VH1, which is basically black reality television now. The fact that they even played a guns n' roses concert is amazing. The show though was good...camera work wasn't great, too many cuts, not always focused on the right parts, some weird crowd shots. I'm not gonna complain though, we finally got a guns show on tv. Axl Rose aka God
Why is it...everytime GN'R is on TV it's... "their chance to showcase Chinese Democracy." It was their chance five years ago. That's gone. That's like Kanye West started playing songs from Graduation in order to showcase them today. That time has past. Be fucking happy we got it on TV. trqster
Nice setlist, but they should have played TIL instead which is way more popular than CD.

Mastodonny
Why would people want to listen to Axl butcher songs they don't even know when they can hear him butcher the hits that everyone knows? What I saw of it was terrible.

Guest NGOG
Talk about sensationalist crap! Set back 20 years? What planet do you live on? In reality, this was a well received opening build-up to the full special.

Freddie Mercury's Ghost
Maybe GNR should have edited it properly down to 90 minutes like every other band does before they sold it to television stations.
Guest NGOG
Maybe GNR should have edited it properly down to 90 minutes like every other band does before they sold it to television stations.A fairly mainstream channel like the stand alone VH1 want a wealth of a footage from which they decide the material that is most marketable. The compromise is GN'R then get their own agenda satisfied by two follow-up, more full broadcasts on Classic/Palladia.

In reality, this was a well received opening build-up to the full special.Exactly! The last time the American public actually saw GNR on stage was in 2002. I'm willing to bet that added a lot to the hate the new band gets (I rather enjoyed that line-up myself at the time though). This was a chance for everyone to see the PHENOMENAL musicians in the band and that they are not a joke. I really didn't expect it to be this good. I was pleasantly surprised and hope a Blu Ray or DVD is released (hopefully with a 5 song EP of new songs:)
ashbalove
Was an absolute failure tonight. They were just set back twenty plus years. Only one CD song are you kidding me? This was their chance to showcase Chinese Democracy on Television. They skipped Better, This I love, Street of Dreams, and Maddy. What the hell? They didn't even show 14 Years, Estranged, Civil War, or Rocket Queen. Now I love watching Guns on tv no matter what and I realise there are older people out there wanting the classics but honestly, fuck Palladia and VH1. No CD songs at all I lost it. Mr_Sparkle
You can't hear dj's guitar in the mix. Maybe that's why it never got a major release?I don't know what it is, but VH1 always leaves a channel out in the mix. If you watch any of the live rock concerts it's always the same. It drove me fucking crazy when they played a Nine Inch Nails concert and one of the sound channels was missing nothing like hearing Nine Inch Nails with drums and base only.. Pissed me the fuck off.Anyone have an email so we can let them know how shitty their broadcasts are?
the_estranged1
You people do realize the entire concert is being shown next Saturday night on VH1 Classic, don't you? Stop complaining that they only aired part of it last night, it surely was a tease for the GNR block of TV next weekend
J Dog
Not the greatest show, but by far not the worst. Watched it with a few people who share the feelings of some on here, they want nothing to do with nu-GNR and only accept the original line up, and they all agreed it was pretty good and the band actually can play. I'm like Jesus, only bad. Bad Jesus. Everybody tripped out at that shit.

VH1 Classic will show the full thing next week.First off I'm not a kid you inept cupcake. Secondly I won't be wasting my time after the bullshit they pulled tonight. Go back to your cave child. You're acting like an angry 3 year old. What "bullshit"? VH1 was showing a 90 minute broadcast. They had to cut stuff. Obviously they're going to keep the hits. They even advertised the extended versions on Palladia and VH1 Classic. Stop crying and give it a rest.

If CD didn't open the show there would have been no songs off CD. And after awhile I saw Izzy standing there and realized they also cut out his 14 years and Dust and Bones song. Really? I really hope that this show gets released on dvd/blue in it's entirety or it was a waste of an hour. I mean with commercials, GNR played about an hour and reallly didn't show how good this tour was. I would guess Axl had to have the last word on approving this show, but really I think it would have been better shown all on HBO or some other cable channel without cuts or commercials. I am glad that it did show his new band and how well they play as a band. Axl looked great and got better sounding as he went along. The crowd sure had a blast! It was odd when Axl said he had to cut the show short, so the fans could get the last bus out to get home? That doesn't happen in the US. Most of us drive to the shows. Anyway, it was good to see a GNR concert again. I've seen them play twice in two years and would keep going as long as they tour here in Dallas or I would definitely go back to Vegas too. I'm still hoping for a release of a dvd of the whole show. Also, I happen to be checking VH1 for the Mob Wives show and saw GNR at ten. I was expecting to see it on March 9 on VH1 classics so was very surprised to see it on VH1 last night. Good thing, I was home to dvr the show. Anyway, thanks Eddie Trunk and VH1 for advertising the show. This is part of the problem with anything good Axl and GNR do, no one gives a shit! wfse
What if next week on GNR's 1 hour video block hosted by Eddie Trunk they debut a new video/song? Edited March 3, 2013 by wfse
Val22
TWhat if next week on GNR's 1 hour video block hosted by Eddie Trunk they debut a new video/song?That would be awesome, but I highly doubt it. After watching the concert again last night, I honestly think Axl and GNR won't be making anymore new music again. It's just a feeling I had and I hope to God I'm wrong, because I think if Axl really wants to move ahead with this band, he needs to trust them and himself to release new songs together. Axl and GNR are too young and talented to waste their time singing old classics for the rest of their days.
