volcano62 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 He's refering to the end on the album version where axl goes "Cryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" and holds it for a long time. No, he said "excellent raspy vocals"
jimb0 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 I finally get it. Why he uses the rasp on THOSE Parts. In Don't Cry. It's a whole metaphor for people not bitching about his clean vocals so to make a point he puts rasp on this part only. And Please remember how I felt inside now honey. "I blew my voice out for you people from the beginning to 93, 2006 - 2007 and 2009-2010"You Gotta' Make it your own way. "Listening to these songs without me blowing my voice out"But You'll be alright now sugar. "Come on, my clean voice ain't that bad live, at least"You'll feel better tomorrow. "You'll wake up remembering an awesome show"In the morning, right now baby. "Enjoy yourself, I'm belting out Don't Cry so Don't Cry About It!"

jimb0 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 That is Precisely why he only rasps those parts... it's gotta be
NachoLZ Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 That is Precisely why he only rasps those parts... it's gotta beits because he rasps his normal/speaking voice, its easy, i can do it and it sounds the same, but when he does the higher notes he rasps his screaming voice (i dont know the technical names for that, but i hope u get the idea)

Hellz YaThis is the version that i have on my playlist if I'm going to listen to Don't Cry, it blows the studio version away which is just way too bloated and overdone imo, also don't really care for Shannon's vocals.
trqster Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I believe it's a well known fact that Axl's 80's vocals were simply amazing and much better than the 90's. He had such a powerful controled and efortless voice back then with perfect rasp when he wanted. Golden era.

Don't cry and Patience were amazing back then as were You're Crazy and Used to Love Her during the late night show performance (87 or 88).Unfortunately Axl's voice wasn't as good later on the 90's and makes me wonder how he could have sounded if he had kept better care of his voice...
