jimb0
I was thinking of my favorite VR Songs... they're in the title and I thought.. Fuck.. you got the guitar ballad, the sleezy rocker and the headbanger...What would have happened if Axl took over these songs vocally. They have the musical components of the old band that people love, with his vocals... could we have seen the GNR take-over that we thought was coming with CD? Instrumentally the only element from the old band is the piano ballads and vocals, but with a VR / Axl combo I think it could have been huge. I mean listen to the mash ups, that's about a 1 percent potential of what this combo could have had. Ego's aside these guys coulda made another slaying.PS. I didn't mean to post this in the main section. Feel free to move or whatever. Edited March 13, 2013 by jimb0

bacardimayne
Slither wouldn't have worked with Axl. They would have changed it too much to make it suit Axl's hair-metal range and the song would have suffered.
Riddick Bowe
naaahh...the songs is just not good enough i think. Fall to pieces maybe, the last one is shit sp i doubt it

If it was Axl in place of Scott on the exact same track, of course it would be better. Edited March 13, 2013 by bacardimayne
AndreCC
I would love to hear an Axl version of "Dirty Little Thing", but most of all i would love hear Axl on "Been There Lately" Edited March 13, 2013 by AndreCC
trqster
That kind of sound is much more old-school Gn'R and Axl doesn't like it, so it would never work.

username
I think all of those songs work better with Weiland's vocals. I could see Axl doing a very raspy Set Me Free and maybe a high pitch Fall To Pieces, but they'd probably still be more suitable for Scott. Axl on Slither - no freaking way would that work. tr420
No! those songs are ok. If gnr released them as a follow up to the illusions they would have been on a fast decline as a band.
James Bond
It's hard to say. I'm so used to the vocals melodies and lyrics Scott came up. Axl's would have been totally different so it's impossible to say if the songs would have benefited or not. I'm sure they'd be good.

AndreCC
They're lyrically not GNR but they sound like GNR songs...Lyrically GNR songs are more polemic.

Eu4ic
those songs suck. everything vr does is generic, trite, crap. and it's not because weiland, slash or duff sucks - i love all those guys, STP and GNR are amazing - they just dont have it. dalsh327
I think the original VR demos Scott heard were pretty close to the same demos Axl originally rejected. Duff and Matt would prob. be willing to answer that.
