ManetsBR
From an interview given today by Roberto Medina, the Rock in Rio promoter to a brazilian newspaper:What about Guns N' Roses, still off the table?Medina: "Axl Rose is a love case. We fight every year, but then he comes back. And the public wants him."Source: http://www.axlrosefaclube.com/2013/03/roberto-medina-o-axl-rose-e-um-caso-de-amor/Guns N' Roses was the main headliner of Rock in Rio 2 (1991), Rock in Rio 3 (2001), Rock in Rio Lisbon 2 (2006) and Rock in Rio 4 (2011). They were also the headliners of Rock in Rio Lisbon (2004) but had to cancel it because Buckethead had left the band. Rock in Rio 5 takes place on September and it will be live streamed worlwide by YouTube. These are the headliners:See full line-up here: http://rockinrio.com/rio/en/line-up/ Edited March 27, 2013 by ManetsBR

Rovim
Medina knows he's going to lose money if he doesn't have Axl Rose in RIR. Doesn't matter if Axl forgets lyrics or not bringing his a game, the fans there will still pay just to attend a Guns show. ManetsBR
Well, it looks like Medina is open for talks. And he said Axl "always comes back", so I would bet on Guns N' Roses headlining at least one Rock in Rio edition, at South America (Rio and next year Buenos Aires) or Europe (Madrid and Lisbon) on the next, let's say, 5 years.Despite what happened on the last edition, Guns N' Roses has a very good history with this festival. TheSeeker
It's fun - if you watch all the Rio performances in order, Axl gets really fucking old:1991http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-v-3SSgdQ82001 2011 Edited March 27, 2013 by TheSeeker
ManetsBR
Well, 20 years is a considerable amount of time. Yes, Axl does gets older, obviously. But I think it's quite impressive that 20 years after his first edition he was still headlining it. I mean, it's the biggest music festival in the world. Rock in Rio is the most valuable name on the whole entertainement industry, and that includes music, cinema TV, games etc. What would Axl say on 1991 if someone told him that 20 years later he would still be headlining Rock in Rio? Teroz
Who cares, it would still be the same old boring show...BUT - I for one, love RIR2001, love it. Cant get enough, love the energy and sound of the band. Axls voice is a bit off on some songs, but on some he totally nails it. Buckethead/Huge/Finck trio is great - Brain on drums; perfect. Like I've said in the past, the worst thing about RIR2001 is that Axl didnt keep his shirt on.

Guest NGOG
So, is Medina opening up the door to an appearance by GN'R at the upcoming RIR event? Or is he suggesting he would be open to negotiations with Axl in the future? It would be a nice opportunity for Guns N' Roses to redeem their proud Rock Rio legacy.
