Chinaski
I thought this was great. DLR seems cool. I was really surprised when I saw his name on the upcoming guest list.
dalsh327
I can tell he went on Adam and Joe's shows because he wants to do podcasts on a regular basis. I think Van Halen in 2007 wowed people, and I just think the last go round, people weren't as enthusiastic about the new album, so someone made the decision to scrap the tour. Ed was getting erratic again, and Wolfgang's been dealing with that most of his life. Ed's the only one standing in the way of releasing archival material in the vaults - everyone else wants them out. Alex had said when they put the remasters out, that they opted to just keep everything the same as far as the album art goes. It's been an ongoing question with that band, and it ties into them never putting a live video or album out. Most of their shows were recorded, and I think the 1984 tour was videotaped. The big release would be Texas Jam because it's the only show from their early years that filmed the entire set. The promos from II and Fair Warning just filmed part of the concert, there are no full length shows. Eddie might have some 8mm footage from the club shows. Dave and Adam talking about what happened to radio after Howard Stern left was worth listening to. Adam also had Mike Anthony & Sammy Hagar on the show, Sam would be a great guest on Rogan, and easily fill up the 3 hours. I know some people feel about Hagar the same way they feel about Nickelback... Van Hagar was pretty much Nickelback with better solos. Dave and Sam both said they'd def. get together to do a Van Halen tour, but I think that would be best suited for a handful of stadium shows, and a Boston date would prob.get Gary to come out and do a set. ShadowOfTheWave
I wouldn't agree with that about Van Hagar, to me Sammy has more personality in his voice/lyrics than Nickelback. His lyrics might be cliche, but not in the same way (generic and boring). He's always seemed like a hard rock Toby Keith to me.Can't take Dave seriously with the sparkly outfits and dancing, especially on the last tour with the Britney Spears mic. DirtyDeeds
It's unfortunate if people didn't get too excited about the last Van Halen album. It was one of the greatest albums of the last 10 years for sure, probably of the last 20 years. The problem I personally had with the tour (and I've seen this on a few other artists' tours lately, so I don't know if that's a coincidence or if it's in vogue right now, but I don't like it) is that the entire stage was just black, and everyone on the stage was wearing black. Nothing stood out at all. I thought it looked like death. There was something about that stage that was so black, that it was like, "How much more black could this be?" and the answer is none. None more black. I thought it made for an uninteresting stage production, and I thought their show for the previous tour was much better and more exciting. Certainly the stage was better last time. I don't think darkness really works for Van Halen, at least not a David Lee Roth-led Van Halen.

But that would cover the huge video screen. Anyway, good to hear Dave promoting the band, we won't hear a thing from Ed or Al.

My guess is that Azoff being involved and Dave not wanting to rock the boat is why... it's prob. how Ed wanted it. Dave and Alex said they want to keep it going for as long as possible, I'm sure Wolfgang gets tired of working for his dad night after night though. The gigs with Tremonti were good for him.If Mike comes back in the band, it would sell out fast.. Dave knows this is going to come to an end soon, and that's prob. why he's bringing Mike's name up in interviews. It's time for the band documentary, box sets, live footage & concert CDs of classic VH. Sam's era got documented a lot more and a lot better.
