Richard Fortus comments on new music this year

2013 seems a little too soon, imo, to release a new album. The band is still showcasing CD songs and really needs to give that album a chance to earn its due. I think the band should continue to showcase the music they have created since CD was released for a few more years. No need to rush things. Maybe an album in 2015 would be good.....that would mean only seven years between releases, which seems about the right amount of time. Let the boys showcase CD and all the songs they've released since then, before jumping into a new album.

Volcano........why would you be embarrassed to be associated with Slash? You do know that he helped create the majority of the classic GnR songs? The iconic GnR songs that will live forever as being some of the best hard rock songs ever created, as well as the majority of the songs that the current band plays at every show (when not showcasing all their new material).

Does that mean you are embarrassed by the guitar work in songs like Nov Rain, Estranged, Coma, Night train, SCOM?

Axl and Slash were magical together and created some of the best rock music in history. We don't know if the current band can do that yet, as Axl hasn't given them the chance. HOPEFULLY he will soon!

But on an actual real note, this is great news.

One album of original material in 20 years from the best rock singer of my generation sucks for music fans.

OMG was already released and flopped. Silkworms might be a "cool" song to some fans, but the juvenile lyrics will just bring GnR un-needed criticism and will be laughed at by a lot of people.

Hopefully we will get to hear all the reported legendary songs (general, thyme, checkmate, soulmonster) as well as a group of songs created by the current band. I would pay $200 to get that album today (and not have to wait 8 more months).

GnR has showcasing CD since 2001. They lost any chance of it "earning it's dues" after about 2006. Most people consider it to be a joke and will never like it no matter how many world tours GnR does with it.

Besides, they play less CD songs now than they did before it was released.

Pretty bold statement...

I won't believe it until I see the source....

It does tie in nicely with tommy's comments on the same subject.

He doesn't like Slash because Axl doesn't like Slash. If Axl came out tomorrow and said he and Slash were cool, he'd change his mind instantly
