Kill Devil Hill
Tough between Zeppelin and Purple. Gave the edge to Purple, though. I mean, in the '70s, they served up In Rock, Machine Head, Fireball, Stormbringer, and Burn.
bran
deep purple, thin lizzy, lynyrd skynyrd, led zeppelin. those are what i would go with, unless sabbath counts.
DieselDaisy
No Crazy Horse!1/ Stones2/ QueenFingers, Exile, Goats and GYYYO are the four greatest albums of the 1970s. Live, the band were legendary (as captured on Gimmie Shelter and Ladies and Gentlemen).

DieselDaisy
The rock group Kiss have caused more forum wars than Maggie Thatcher. It is a bit like 'coming out', mentioning that you are a member of the ''Kiss Army'' haha. I like them also: they would probably make my top five. Cosmo
I possess the most unpopular opinion in the thread:KISSEither this or AC/DC. But I do prefer pre-Dynasty KISS to pre-Back in Back AC/DC. Edited April 22, 2013 by Cosmonaut

Val22
Wow! Good list. I love many of the bands on that list. So many of those bands incorporated blues and other wonderful music types in their songs.I think Led Zeppelin tried many different types of music and melodies in their music. Each album was made up of different sounds. The Who also did different things.I really can't pick a band since so many were my favorites in the late 60's and 70's.I don't think I would put Black Sabbath on the hard rock list, because they are the kings of heavy metal.
