TombRaider
...would it have been easier for the media/many fans to fully embrace this current lineup as GnR? Edited May 5, 2013 by TombRaider
luciusfunk
I'd say it's more likely. It's harder to replace an iconic figure than just an average guy.
BBA
I think if Axl was capable of finding a better band they would have done just fine. He hasn't been able to properly replace the originals. That's the problem.
trqster
Gn'R only had 2 irreplaceable band members in the public eye: Axl and Slash - unfortunately for Axl, Slash left...
izzydoezit
If they didn't have their history they had, they'd be an indie band that nobody today knows, who can barely fill up a club. Especially with Axl's voice today, they'd probably wouldn't even be able to book any gig at all except maybe a local bar or something.
vaida
pointless backwards thread.. for all sorts of reasons..
Jeez
I think if Axl was capable of finding a better band they would have done just fine. He hasn't been able to properly replace the originals. That's the problem.I think if his goal was to "properly replace" the originals, he wouldn't have hired someone like Buckethead, or Robin Finck. The band he hired was perfect for Chinese Democracy. The originals wouldn't be able to pull off an album sounding like ChD.So, not sure what you mean by "finding a better band".
TeeJay410
The problem with guns has always been timing. If GNR got Cd out in '99 then it's a completely different story. It took too long, time passed Axl bye to continue being a relevant artist.
