Chinaski
I know people like to give Ashba shit round here and the term 'bullying survivor' doesn't scream 'rock n roll!!' or whatever people want from GNR but thisa) isn't something I would wish on any childb) is a good thing for people to hear. If some kid feels better reading that a guy in GNR also went through this then it's worth him putting the story out there.

Guest charlie555
Interesting that Ashba and Axl had a somewhat similar upbringing (in terms of being abused). Nice to see him getting involved in the bullying issue - the more coverage the better.

Maestro
In all honesty, he's not my favourite guitarist in GNR, nor a very high-skilled player, but I applaud him for sharing this. I'm sure a lot of people find this helpfull.

Axl always seems so isolated to me, it would be good if he felt he could open up to Ashba if this is a source of his problems.
dalsh327
I'm surprised he didn't try to kill his dad, but you're taught to respect your parents, and feeling it wouldn't be worth it to do time for someone you despise that much.I guess his dad bailed by the time he was old enough to beat the old man up. It also makes you wonder why his mom put up with it, other than that they were poor and she had nowhere to go. It also goes down to the question of why some people have kids if they're going to be pricks towards them. I think it's resentment for being tied down in a bad marriage and resenting what the kid represented to him. It's sad to hear but it's still common. I'm sure DJ and Axl talked about their childhoods by now.
Careful with that axe
The only way to survive abuse to counsel others in hopeless situations and steer them towards healing. Time is not going forward on as the illusion would have us believe.Serve others, serve yourself.
Rustycage
Oh cut the shit, DJ. He was probably whooping your ass for using up all of Mommy's makeup, Ripping all of the plants out of their pots, verbally abusing Granny and dumping the cereal out so you could put the box on your head. Can we read that story again about how DJ beat up a drunk fan and how proud of it he was? If you need someone to read it for you then you have to wait till your mommy comes home.

Otherwise, it's just rock n roll.

November_rain
Whether you like the guy or not you have to admit that he is very brave to face all that drama and make it public in order to help others. Just for that he deserves my respect.
Facekicker
It is hard not to think of this as just another attention seeking publicity stunt from Mr. Ashbaswag. Maybe I am just being cynical having read one too many celebrity woe is me stories Edited May 23, 2013 by TheDiceMan
