T.wa.T
Robert John took it and it from the 1/4/86 Troubadour gigThanks. How did the dynamic between yourself Robert John and Jack Lue work. Did you guys compete in a friendly way to capture the best shot? Were those two allowed to sell their photos or did they have to get permission from the band first? I know Axl didn't want some pics of him to be seen and that Duff and Slash seemed cool with Robert, he has a documentary about them and photographing them. Thanks again Marc. recklessroad
I was there for my self because I knew it had to be documented and as a friend and to help the band get some cool photos, Jack was there because he was also a friend and Slash asked him to do the photos that the band needed for flyers. Because he was a friend the price was right, no charge for the shoot, no charge for the film and no charge to developing and printing. Robert came in at the end of 1985 and starting working with the band with the goal of making a living with it. That was his job. We did it for fun. When the band hit it big in 1988, I backed away because Robert needed to pay his rent, but at some point I knew that I needed to put together a book of the club days which was started in the summer of 1993 and took 15 months at 5 hours aday to put together the first draft. The problem was No one wanted to publish the book until the band puts out a new record. So the book sat in my closet for 12 years and by the time 2006 came, the stuff I had was vintage so it now didn't have to wait for a record although one was done and was going to be coming out in Nov of 2006
DieselDaisy
Was the book literally finished circa 1995 then (including the interviews), finished but dormant? I would be interested in hearing how you compiled the interviews. You have a long list here, former band mates (from Tidus Sloan, Rose etc), the girlfriends, Zutaut, Vicky Hamilton, the Appetite team. Any problems tracking people down? Any people not willing (sans Axl and Izzy - I have heard your story about Izzy by the way)? Any people you regret you couldn't include?
recklessroad
All the interviews were done in 2007 except I did get some quotes from Axl in 1994 when he was looking at the first draft. His comments were included in the next draft. I was looking for Barbi but didn't find he in time and I wanted Tracii but he was not willing until after the book came out. He loved it and said he would interview if I needed him for the next printing.
Lim666
Marc, will there be a 2nd prining, an ultimate edition (with a DVD maybe)?
T.wa.T
That's great that you guys, Robert and Jack, were friends and not competing for the bands time.Did Tracci ever show or talk about having regrets in regard to his and Axls breakup? Has Axl ever talked about him (Tracci) as possibly rejoining GnR back in the 90's?
