In my opinion the Aerosmith one is better in terms of recording quality. The LLAS demos kind of have a shitty quality that makes them less clear. If anybody's got better versions than the ones released I'd no doubt like to hear.

Yes. Same goes for Sympathy For The Devil and Dead Flowers. Axl and Izzy also did a great job with Salt Of The Earth.

If they wanted so much to release an album of covers, they should have made it a Classic Rock covers album, not a more punk album. Imagine an album with Guns N' Roses covering nothing but Stones, Aerosmith, Zep, Pink Floyd, The Who and any other classic rock bands that Axl loves to play live.

Only cover by Guns I don't care for is Live and Let Die. There's not enough guitar, or the guitar that's there needs to be heavier and louder.

On topic Mama Kin is a good song and Guns n Roses version is better than Aerosmiths.

Aerosmith's live version is way better than their album version. Seems like it sounds like its back in a hole to me on their album version.

So with that said, album wise,I prefer GNR's version. Haven't been fortunate enough to hear any GNR versions live and in person. What I have watched/listened to tho I actually like both bands versions live.

And it's too hard for me to pick one over the other. I love both bands. LoL depends on my mood I guess.

I like the GNR version more, but Aerosmith's always done a great job with it live, and it was a case where I hadn't heard Aerosmith's first album, just the Greatest Hits, and Permanent Vacation. I wound up getting Gems, liking it, and started getting (mostly used) tapes and CDs of their back catalog. I think by the time Pandora's Box came out I had most of what was on there.

They're both fine, and GN'R's cover is so old now that it's not real easy to say "The older one is always better," but especially since it's such a straightforward cover and sounds so similar to the original, I would probably go with Aerosmith. But also by that token, I could totally see someone who prefers Axl's vocals enjoying GN'R's more, since it's essentially the same musically.
