Estranged Reality Posted June 8, 2013 Author Posted June 8, 2013 Edge of Darkness was awesomeWas Expendables 2 worth watching? First was awesome.I liked the first one, and thoughy 2 was wayyyy better. From what I've seen (bits and pieces), it seems to me the second film felt higher budget, more 'legitimate,' - it even had a more experienced director at the helm than Stallone - but my favourite scene in the whole series is Mickey Rourke's heartfelt monologue in the first one. Apparently Sly let him write the whole thing himself before shooting. It's bizarre, and totally/tonally out of place for the film - the rest of it's all tongue-in-cheek and suddenly there's this big, sad speech from Rourke - but if you take it from outside the context of the movie, it's kind of some of the best acting he's done, and I love how Stallone just stands there speechless for the whole thing, then just walks away, since he probably couldn't think of anything to say. dalsh327 Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I can see Expendables being an ongoing project, they're at the right age to get together after years of people wanting to put some of them in a movie together. Quote
PITBOSS Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 speaking of mel Gibson, even if his career is done, that guy is not hurting for money estimated worth 600-800million.i rarely won't watch a movie because a certain actor is in it, but there are exceptions. Quote

The second one has the characters a little more developed. They talk about how much better it was for the movie that Sly stepped down as director (Even Sly agrees) as it allowed him to concentrate on teaking the plot and dialogue. He said the first one nearly killed him, doing both acting and directing was a mistake. You really should watch it. The people who think it's worse are crazy imo. Quote

I loved all the 'heard before' one liners. These movies are a dream come true for me. Arnie, Sly, Bruce, Li, Rourke etc. all in the same movie. Pretty awesome! And it's not to be taken too seriously, it's just fun. Quote
