wasted
To make the Rocky Balboa of comeback albums? Everybody has a side of them rooting for the underdog, if Axl can tap into this could he make an album that resonates with everyone.

wasted
if they are going to leave CD behind and do a more hard rock self titled record it could have survivor element to it. Thats where Axl is now "they tried to destroy me but Im still here"I think people could identify with that a lot more than the bitter heartbroken revenge on CD. phaeryen
What he needs to do is give up some of his insurmountably high ideas and preconcieved notions of what a GNR record should be, or whatever the hell it is that has stagnated his creativity? Something is wrong and I don't know what it is exactly.
rockerman
IMO ..Axl has made his comeback.. its a ship that has come and gone. Was it the blinding intense rock and roll fest that we thought might happen prior to CD ? No not by any means. As it is- he tours, plays his songs and frankly doesnt seem to give a damn about presenting any more of his music. Has it occoured to any of us that perhaps Axls music now has nothing to do with his money machine GNR? Whathe has is controlable..it must be profitable on many different levels. He still commands headline status and the pressure to do new music must be a minimum. CD garnered him a new generation of fans and GNR still has interest. IF CD2 was a burning desire to reestablish GNR as the huge thing it was in the past...the evidence isnt there..and if it is...its carefully controlled.Question is perhaps: what does Axl have left to prove? He makes his statement by doing what he does by touring...to the delight of some and the disgust of others. Who are you going to please? The people that scream out for Sunset strip Axl or the current one.. that simply is working his job...doing his bit and delivering what he can?IMO: those that got CD "got it" and those that dont...well to bad. It is what it is. I fyou hear GNR on it...fine that accomplished a level of success already...if you didnt hear GNR on it...then that happens to be your problem . IS Axl gonna comeback in the 15th Round and knock everybody out? What does your gut level reaction tell you given the evidence as it is presented in 2013? wasted
I dont really see anything on CD that GNR havent done before. Slightly different influences or styles. But theres still rockers, punk elements, mid tempo songs, epics. Its just whether the next one is a change up or down. Or the same but just played by different guitarists. CDII might be the same. But the self titled seems like it would be more hard classic rock. CD is very 90s alienation paranioa. Just think some more fighting spirit is what I get from band since 09. But they dont have the songs that say fuck you you knocked me down but Im back. People love that shit.

wasted
I think opening the album with Rocky breaking cow ribs in the meat locker would set the tone well.
