Not that much finished work CD2?

So we hear about all these so called finished songs from the CD era all the time. Different numbers thrown around, enough for 3-4 albums some people say.

However, according to Axl in this 2009 interview:

When's the next album?

Have no idea and don't care. Hopefully, we'll be working 'Chinese' for a good bit. Of course there's the same idiots that have been around forever already demanding release dates.

How much material is there?

Not as much as Baz [sebastian Bach] thinks he heard! Really, it doesn't matter. If things go well enough, we'd like to get another out at some point in our lifetimes.

Is anything finished?

Depends how you look at it.

How do you look at it?

Not something we've focused on.

You're not saying much.

You got that? What I can say is if you don't like this, then you probably won't like that. Same people, lots more approaches, bit meaner in places and darker in some. Robin does a really great Stevie Ray Vaughan-type solo on one track.

In 2006, Axl said they had 32 songs, 26 of which were "almost" done

In 2011 (or 2012, can't remember exactly), Tommy said there were 22 "completed" songs from the CD era that remained unreleased.

So yeah, it's not quite the trilogy that Bach mentioned. It's more like 1.5 albums of material left.

I can't believe Axl actually said he has no idea and doesn't care. It all makes sense now. What an ambitious musician eager to make a name for his band huh? Maybe Axl should get a permanent spot in Vegas if that's how he feels.

The fact that Axl has spent the better part of 20 years trying to reinvent Gn'R while begrudgingly releasing ONE album in that time span speaks volumes about his sanity. To paraphrase Izzy's (2001?) interview: Axl has a massive inferiority complex due to his dysfunctional childhood, and reacted to success by eagerly seizing power at every opportunity. All the mother f'er had to do was go solo after the breakup, but he managed to massively fuck that up!

That's what every small minded average musician would do. it'd be no fun at all.

but yes its kind of sad that he waisted so much time and talent, sometimes it feels like he's living in some other universe with different time dimension

You have to remember, he's said that 08-10 were the worst years of his life. He worked on CD for 14 years and the album tanked. I can see why at the time he wouldn't have much ambition to release new material. I suspect that now he's over that.
