rocknroll41
http://collider.com/amazing-spider-man-3-amazing-spider-man-4-release-date/?_r=truethey haven't even released a trailer for the second film yet (which is coming out May 4, 2014), but for some reason Sony has already locked in the third film to be released June 10, 2016 and a fourth film for May 4, 2018.my analysis: they wanna milk the shit out of this franchise, but im still excited. your thoughts? Coma16
I actually didn't mind the first one. Although i do think it was too soon to re-launch this franchise.
rocknroll41
I actually didn't mind the first one. Although i do think it was too soon to re-launch this franchise.i liked it too. While I agree that it was kinda to early for the reboot, Sony had no other choice cause Raimi walked out of the franchise and Tobey was asking for too much money and getting too old. Not to mention the last film they did of the old series was terrible. Plus had Sony waited longer than 5 years to do it they would've lost the franchise rights back to Disney, which would've cost them millions. So I don't hate on them for re-starting the series. downzy
A buddy of mine who is a massive comic book fan (particularly Marvel) told me last year that Sony has to release a Spider-Man movie every two years or the franchise reverts back to Marvel's own studios, and thereby Disney. The reason why Spider-Man wasn't in the Avengers was because Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man, while Disney owns the rights to all the other characters through their somewhat recent purchase of Marvel studios . Because Marvel has a deal with Paramount (made before Disney bought Marvel Studios), they got production credits for Avengers (as well as Iron Man 3). Once the six-movie deal with Paramount expires, you'll see everything being produced and distributed by Disney. Someone else might be better able to explain all of this better than I can, but this is what I recall from my friend who follows this stuff. Chris1989
I just don't care about Spider-Man these days. I used to watch the cartoon in my pre-teen years and I watched the first 2 TobeyM Spider-Man films at the cinema. Just lost interested after the first 2 and its just "meh" now. chevelle
By 2016 people will be so fucking burnt out on these superhero movies they might want to rethink that strategy.

downzy
I don't really mind superhero movies. They are what they are, fun and generally mindless. If you don't like them, don't see them. What I do have a problem with is this constant need to "reboot" a franchise. There simply was no need to re-tell the Spider-Man origin story so soon after the last depiction. I loved the new Superman movie, but I'm really looking forward to the next one where we get to see a story that hasn't been told before. If a character's origin story is fairly well known, just leave it as is and continue with the character. Mostly why I haven't really enjoyed the Wolverine series - it always reverts back to his creation. The next Spider-Man movie could be great if they get the villain right. I don't really know what's going on, but hopefully one of the sequels does a proper job with the character Venom because the last movie to deal with him was horrible.
