Vincent Vega
If GN'R had released this as a mini album, a stop gap sometime in 1990 between Lies and the UYIs, how do you think it would've fared:1) Bring it Back Home2) Just Another Sunday (released as single)3) Crash Diet (with Slash solo instead)4) Jumpin' Jack Flash (released as single)5) Sentimental Movie (Izzy, Axl & Duff on vox instead, polished)6) Cornshucker7) KOHD (since it was released in '90)8) Shadow of Your Love9) Civil War (again, it was released in '90) Edited June 23, 2013 by Vincent Vega
Loaded
That would have been great. Maybe someone here can re-master the demos.
stumbleine
I guess but I just don't know.
Powerage5
That would have been great. Maybe someone here can re-master the demos. A few of them were remastered by Alan Niven. There might still be some working links in the download section.
Apollo
Two terrible choices for singles. But Civil War and Heaven's Door would have been strong singles, especially for an EP just released to tide people over between albums. There was a reason that Crash, JAS, SM, BBH and Shadow weren't on any of the actual GnR ablums. While I like them for their novelty factor and because they are songs with Axl singing..............they aren't really very great songs. There is a reason they weren't on any of the GnR albums. Uncle Bob
When I think about new music I tell myself, "well, listen that demos from more than 20 years ago, that's like an album"
liers
I think it would've fared better if they released it in 1994 or 1995. They couldn't agree on any new songs and considering those songs were already written, it may have went by with less tension in the band. You're forgetting Ain't Goin Down. jman2000
Most of those songs are 1986... not 1990 as some bootlegs feature them. Bring it Back HomeJust Another SundayCrash DietSentimental Movie All 1986 Hellhouse demos. I doubt they were even considered during UYI era... I don't think the band wanted anything to do with Jumpin' Jack Flash and Shadow of Your Love anymore in 1990 either... they already released Shadow of Your Love (Live From the Jungle EP) and Jumpin' Jack Flash was considered for Live Like a Suicide... not sure why it wasn't used. jman2000
Hmm… very well could be. The version of Jumpin Jack Flash from LLAS sessions is very good though I have to admit.
DieselDaisy
Guns should release an archive album featuring those songs (sans KOHD and CW) as well as some of the rarities you have missed (Heartbreak Hotel, Ain't Going Down). (Ideally they should have put this out before Nugnr arrived in 1999). That would be an excellent release however, gnr should release a big monster boxset containing.. - The Black Randy demos - The Sound City Demos - The Pasha demos and remixes of LLAS. Also SOYL from live from the jungle. - the arkeen stuff (crash diet etc) - The Mike Clink version of SOYL - Appetite outakes and remixes - Lies outakes/remixes including Chornshucker - anything of interest from the Illusion era - anything that can be salvaged from the illfated 1994-96 sessions. Include a complete day-by-day recording history of the band in a deluxe booklet with rare photos etc. I will be happy to create this for GN'R if the want? All they need to do is give me the keys to the vault!! Then follow this boxset up with a series of live dvd boxsets like the Kissologies.
