Axl Rosesky
Hey everybody, brand new to the forum today. Long time reader, first time poster.Axl being my hero, and Gn'R being my #1 band -- I've really become interested in recreating their magic. I started singing just over 3 years ago, and as a result, gathered some buddies and created a tribute to Guns N' Roses in 2011 as a result. We are labelled 'The Nightrain', are based out of Canada, and started doing full gigs in November of 2011 -- taking off in middle of 2012. I'm not here to push the band on you all -- I'm here for feedback! I'd imagine we have mostly Gn'R fans here...so I tread carefully.Brief story about us: No, we don't do the music EXACT to studio. We try our best to emulate the live experience; like a faster tempo, more raw and not a perfect clone of what you'd hear on a track. This is our hobby, not our livelihood. We have a pile of fun and as a result are starting to play some bigger shows -- imagine that! I'm not here to have people say stop messing with classics, the music, "start your own original band", etc. I'm here because we all LOVE the music and all love to discuss it. Anyways, any and all feedback is appreciated!Nice to be a part of the forum!Website: http://www.thenightrain.caFB: https://www.facebook.com/sk.nightrainYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/sknightrain/videos[F-bomb dropped in intro -- watch the volume...]

Nosaj Thing
Cool performance, cool band, great singer but that was a little rushed for no reason. That intro wasn't good so fire that guitarist please.
Axl Rosesky
Thanks guys -- appreciate it!Cool performance, cool band, great singer but that was a little rushed for no reason. That intro wasn't good so fire that guitarist please. The tough part (for us) is finding that fine line between bumping up the tempo from the studio version and going too fast. We're working on slowing it ALL down a bit -- it's tough with such energetic music! Appreciate your input.

Your recording was a good balance of live vs. studio styles. The video was very well edited and entertaining. Also, please stick with the faster tempo, because GNR always seems to slow it down too much for their releases (IMO). Do you guys play anything from CD, or just classic stuff? And we do plan on keeping the tempo up -- it's just a matter of controlling it and not getting too out of whack.Currently our setlist is majorly Appetite and UYI, with 3 Lies tracks stuck in there. We have 2 CD songs; Better & Chinese Democracy. We've been looking to tackle This I Love at some point in the future...I personally think that song is incredible. Thanks again for the feedback. T.wa.T
Reckless Life and Shadow of Your Love would be cool to hear as well.In your Jungle video it reminded me of the Ritz show. Good sound to.
jman2000
This is the best GNR tribute band out there. Fuck the rest. You guys put new GNR to fucking shame. Please play Shadow of Your Love and Reckless. That's be awesome! Shit... Best stuff I've watched besides original recordings of GNR from 1988. Amazing. You are the singer correct? I gotta ask - where'd you get the hat? Also any vids of Better or CD?

Good sound to.Thanks man! Yeah, the Ritz is what we were going for when we shot that WTTJ Video. We still have 6 more songs from that night to release. Out Ta Get Me, It's So Easy, You Could Be Mine, Rocket Queen, Patience and Nightrain -- it's a lot of work to edit those things. Oh, and yeah, Reckless Life is a song I would LOVE to hit eventually. This is the best GNR tribute band out there. Fuck the rest. You guys put new GNR to fucking shame. The hat was actually from a fan at a show, just before Sweet Child one night back in April it was tossed to me. As for videos of Better or CD, sure enough, nobody ever cares to film those ones -- unfortunately. We have trouble convincing people that they're actually AMAZING tracks -- but it's only a few of the die-hards who actually appreciate them. I'll make sure to get someone to set up a camera at one of our next gigs where we play those tunes; I'll make sure to keep you posted. Thanks for the input guys -- glad you're enjoying what we do! jman2000
Could you take a pic of the hat and post it here? If you find the guy who tossed it to you let me know I really want one.
