realpoti
Look at this fucking setlist. Matt is always busy with Soundgarden and Vedder with his solo work, still they don't use this as an excuse for stopping with Pearl Jam. WhazUp
I listened to the show on the Wrigley webcam, shitty quality but it was amazing! And yeah compared to GNR I would say Pearl Jam are light years ahead in terms of live shows. Not even a comparison in my mindOh and by the way compare the London setlist a few days ago with this one. Totally different setlists, as opposed to GNR that keeps with the same song and dance night after night Edited July 20, 2013 by WhazUp
dalsh327
They're def. a good example of how to keep a band together, and I'm glad Cameron Crowe was able to keep documenting them over the years.
Randy Lahey
I'm glad we've made the switch. Looks like another great setlist. How was Eddie's voice? No Donald Duck I hope. Edited July 20, 2013 by Randy Lahey
volcano62
I love Pearl Jam but please don't compare them to GNR...especially on a GNR forum.GNR blows them way the fuck away on any stage.

WhazUp
GNR blows them way the fuck away on any stage.I dunno man, I saw Pearl Jam in 2009 in LA and I have to say personally I think Pearl Jam blew GNR out of the water. Not that GNR wasn't fantastic both times I saw them, but with Pearl Jam there was this real cool vibe between the audience and the band where it was like a "we are all in this together" thing wheras with GNR it was essentially the "watch Axl Rose rock out for 2 1/2 hours" show. Both bands put on fantastic shows and I know this is a GNR forum so people would generally be predisposed to picking GNR over PJ but there was something special at that Pearl Jam show that really stood out to me (although I suppose it didn't hurt that Chris Cornell, Ben Harper, and Jerry Cantrell came onstage and guested with them ) Edited July 21, 2013 by WhazUp

DieselDaisy
I am not a PJ fan but I would love GN'R to function like Pearl Jam and respect PJ for how they release stuff and switch their sets around. I have zero respect for Axl for not releasing material, playing nostalgia tours and generally being, a wanker.
iftheworld
First off, screw pearl jam. Secondly, GNR shouldn't learn from anyone.
Aussiegun
Not to mention Pearl Jam plays 7 songs, storm comes, they don't sook, just wait an hour for it to blow over, then play 26 more songs.
Guest Manny Manner
Really they are different bands. Pearl Jam is my favorite band and there is no doubt that they are a better live act. This is their forte really- they are this generation's Grateful Dead (albeit different sonic experiences), but GNR is something else entirely. Pearl Jam has never released an album as sonically pleasing or culturally groundbreaking as AFD. They've never released a grand masterpiece like Chinese Democracy or even an album as broad in musical scope as the Illusions. To me it's apples and oranges, but I would say that GNR is definitely better in the studio and Pearl Jam is by far a better live band.
Crash Diet
Altough i like PJ and their setlists are nice, but Vedders voice isn't good nowyes, everybody gets old and loose his voice, but Vedder lacks of the power now...to be honest: i don't really care for their live performances now

Jeff has a sideband that recently toured, and McCready is currently working with Duff and the surviving members of Mad Season (-the bassist). Hell even their keyboard/organ/piano player Boom recently released material with his side band.

Guest Manny Manner
Shitty setlistWhy would you say that? What would you have preferred to hear? Not to hear? Or are you just used to bitching about something because this is a GNR forum? I don't think you can really look at a PJ setlist and judge the quality of the show- they actually play songs different ways and there's a different vibe and mood to each show. I think it was a pretty good setlist- with a good chunk of rarities, new material, and a minimization of the standards, but still enough to keep the casual fans interested. GnRFL
I would be pretty happy if GNR did a more varied setlist, but since I dont go to every show, I dont lose sleep over it.

drtydane
and McCready is currently working with Duff and the surviving members of Mad Season (-the bassist).. John Saunders died like 15 years ago. The drummer from the screaming trees is the only one alive besides mccreedy. I saw they cover mother love bone. They ever play temple of the dog tunes? Cosmo
I HATE pearl jam's stupid hipster setlists! They're AWFUL! I mean... Of every band I like, Pearl Jam has the worst live setlists. Too many ballads, to many low tempo songs, they often leave out huge hits, it's just dumb.If Guns N' Roses has to learn from someone it's Metallica. Metallica has released an album in the same year as Guns N' Roses. The album becore that sucked and Metallica was bashed even more than Guns N' Roses. Now they're a nostalgia act that is actually sucessful. If you're gonna be a nostalgia act, do it like them. Themed setlists, themed tours. MoP aniversary setlist, RTL from head to toe on the other. Black Album in it's order, KEA, AJFA, Metallica delivers as a nostalgia act. If Guns N' Roses wants to keep this on, they need to stop playing the same damn setlist night after night, tour after tour and play an AFD anniversary tour where they play EVERY SINGLE AFD SONG, the same with Lies and the same with UYIs. Can't play Coma, Locomotive, etc..? No problem! Play the rest! Make a themed setlist! Make it the AFD 26th anniversary tour, not the "2013 Latin American Tour". How dull is that?
