Sheri_Rose
He would have made a great freddie although I despise his films except for his role inSweeny Todd.I'm sorry but the talking penis in bruno? Sure, it's funny to most but I wasdisgusted. He has the look, can sing very well....I hope he'll reconsider or the studio will.

ohlovelyrita
"Daniel Radcliffe is the latest name in the frame for the planned film biopic of the late Queen singer Freddie Mercury, it has been reported. The Daily Star claimed a source told the paper: "Daniel has been told the part is his if he wants it."Radcliffe's possible casting follows the news in July that original star Sacha Baron Cohen pulled out of the project, citing a clash between his desire to make a "racy" biopic in contrast to Mercury's erstwhile bandmates, who are said to want a more "family-friendly" approach.Radcliffe, of course, is familiar to family audiences through his role in the Harry Potter films, but recently gained credibility as a dramatic actor by taking on the role of gay beat poet Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings, which involved some explicit sex scenes. The Star went on to quote it source as saying: "Plus, he's closer in height to Freddie than Sacha, who's much taller. Daniel can really sing, too."http://www.theguardian.com/film/2013/sep/23/daniel-radcliffe-freddie-mercury-sacha-baron-cohen

Angelica
Apparently he couldn't find agreement with the rest of the band over the tone of the film.Yeah, it sounds like the band want to go the cuddly, sanitized Walk the Line route. Cohen would've killed it.
Kickingthehabit
Didn't Mercury have costumed themed orgies backstage? Ask anyone who saw him live. Angelica
Ezra Miller is the best non-Cohen suggestion I've got. Radcliffe is no where near pretty enough.

dalsh327
We're getting the version Brian May and Mary Austin want out there. The documentaries on Freddie's private life are interesting but they don't want to get into how he got AIDS. It's the actor's right to discuss and decline the role but it's huge pressure because he knows how the fans would scrutinize him on it, being of age to have grown up when they were still playing concerts and doing videos. Freddie's backstory before Queen is interesting and not a lot of people know about it. I think they want to get some of that out there, what's known, anyway. I'm sure it'll be a good story but trying to take something that involved sex, drugs and rock n' roll is going to push for an R rating.Freddie staged parties but it was partly to keep the media preoccupied and just because Freddie liked to throw parties. He kept his sex life far removed from the band and had his close circle of friends. It's a given he had a promiscuous life and unfortunately wound up being a casualty. The gay community was pissed at him for not disclosing it sooner. It makes me sad to think about it because a family member died from it around the same time. I think the story should be told, and we'll have to see what comes out of it. I just don't want a Lifetime biopic, but I don't think they'll gloss over his dark side (he had some dark mood swings supposedly) or his "secret life".
