Would you have been happier with an album full of OMG like Tracks?

Thanks for the responses guys. Yeah to sum it up, more balls and less production. I'm no huge fan of IRS but yeah the 1999 version definitely destroys the final version. That raw, guitar driven edge without all the polish which blends 23 guitar tracks with 19 year old vocals lol.

I remember thinking OMG was really different and not liking it too much. The song really grew on me, and fn love it! I don't know about a whole album with tracks like that. I like a mixture of things when it comes to Guns. The way CD is. At this point though, bring it!

Does anyone have the 1999 version so I can have a listen?

Thank you :shades:

Fuck, they're both great versions. I absolutely love the CD TWAT, but this is a killer version too. I wonder what Axl's like with other people's input on his songs

Yes. CD, The Blues, TWAT + Catcher 1999, Prostitute, shacklers, OMG, Silkworms, Riad, Jackie Chan, and whatever other stuff axl has along OMG lines. Dump everything else.

Something like this. Even the song CD had some nastiness too it back then.

At the time I didn't appreciate this track as much as I do today, but after CD settling into my system for a good five years, I kinda wish CD had more songs in this type of style and direction.

PS. It's kinda sad in a ways that OMG is the most 'Bad Ass' New GNR song.

No, not at all - among my least favorites of that era - would have been pure torture on my ears

At one time I'd agree with you, but looking back.... There aren't many songs out of NuGNR that I can rock out to like OMG... it's grown on me.

The Hook. You can so Mosh to it. It's bad ass.

I remember having those Chinese Democracy leaks for years, and thinking "you have the fucking songs! And they actually sound great! Just release the damn record!" It should have been that simple, because all we needed were those demos in perfect quality. And then the album finally comes out, and Axl still gets it wrong! It wasn't horrible, but somehow he managed to ruin the demos. I LOVED IRS, and then somehow on the album, with it sounding perfect sound quality, he made it worse. That was the biggest letdown for me. Those demos were awesome, and then he managed to put out an album that wasn't miles different, but the one noticeable difference was it lacked whatever it was those demos had, rawness or whatever it is that other people are saying. I never quite got over that. I remember playing people those demos and saying "this will sound awesome when the album finally comes out" and I looked and felt idiotic when they just sounded so "meh" on the record.
